River Star headed into the swamp apprehensively but also with a tinge of excitement. She was on a quest of great import to herself. She needed a blessing for her young that she would be having with Starkissed. She’d like to get the blessing for them so that they’d have a beautiful life as they grew up and became adults. Weaving through the swamp trees and the moss banks, she searched for a hint of what she needed. She’d heard tales of others receiving blessings and hoped to earn one herself.
She looked up as she heard a bird cry out overhead, but it was just a regular bird as far as she could tell. The tales had told of forms the blessers could take, seeming to be one thing, then another. Anything living in the swamp could be one of them, one of the Chosen. She was filled with the thought of finding one of them this day.

King of Shadows didn't bless kin very often. He was a selective creature and fickle in his moods and opinions. It was springtime and therefore he was not in charge of the fairy tribe, leaving the burden of partying to his other half - Fair. This meant he had more freedom to move through the lands, and he did so, even on occaision venturing outside of his boundaries. He moved surprisingly silently for such a striking figure, flitting through the trees with a grace that was borne of long practice.
He passed a few kin on his way, but did not interact with them, simply choosing to take a new path in another direction.
But a zikwa caught his attention. The fairy tribe didn't have many at all, but they had always held great interest for him. He had often wondered if he had the species in his own ancestry somewhere, if it had some bearing on his present shape.
"Well met, stranger." he said in a charmingly silky voice, stepping out of the foliage. "I should say you look like you are seeking something. Did no one tell you it was dangerous to seek tidings near the land of the fairies?"

Re: [Bless] River Star x King of Shadows
River Star shied away from the sudden movement coming from some of the nearby foliage. She sniffed quietly at the air, looking towards the form that she figured had voiced the sentence. “No one has told me anything about this area, really. I’ve just been moving around quite a bit. Is it really that dangerous? I just want to find a blessing for my coming young ones.”
She took a careful step forward, caution warring inside with hope that she’d found what it was she’d been seeking. She couldn’t see his whole appearance but what she could glimpse seemed somewhat different from other kin she’d met. She refocused on her goal and asked “Are you one who grants blessings? Or mayhap knows where I might gain a blessing?”

Re: [Bless] River Star x King of Shadows
Behind the other kin there was the low hiss of a large caiman, ghostly and strange, with a mask of scales much the same as King's. It watched her, but made no move to approach. King just smiled in his charming sort of way and inclined his head slightly. "Well then, perhaps it is fate that brought you this way, bold and fearless as so many staunch mothers often are."
He found her facinating to observe, with marking that glowed in defiance of the thick foliage, much as his many eyes did.
"I am capable of blessing those who deserve it, certainly, and perhaps I am capable of cursing those who do not."
His tail curled thoughtfully as he looked her over.
"What sort of mother do you hope to be?" he asked. "And how would you have your offspring blessed? Intelligent? Foolish? Lucky? What is important to you."
The caiman exhaled in another hiss.
"Think about your answer."

Re: [Bless] River Star x King of Shadows
She thought for a few minutes about what her response would be, a significant matter indeed, requiring a serious response from her. Should she ask for bravery? Though she was plenty brave herself and figured she could potentially pass that on to the children. Mayhaps luck? But the problem with asking for luck might be that they may end up with bad luck and no parent wanted that for their offspring.
River Star nodded her head several times before asking, “I would like a blessing of logic for them. Logic could help them make wise decisions in their futures. Would you be able to give such a blessing?” She was optimistic but still tried to be careful in her wording. From what had been said she gathered that the wrong thing spoken might possibly offend this impressive looking figure and the hissing silhouette behind it.

Re: [Bless] River Star x King of Shadows
King seemed to consider her words for a time, as if weighing them up. He seemed in no hurry at all to respond. "Hm." he said after some time where the only sound was the breeze rustling the tree tops. "A frugal blessing to hope for." he said. "And a logical one in itself."
He did however tilt his head thoughtfully. "But you must be sure to guide them in ways to balance their logic. Many a harsh ruler has been borne of logic and nothing else. Teaching emotional intelligence and when to use it will be your task for them, your role to take them forward."
He stepped closer and extended an elegant hoof to touch her shoulder. It was accompanied by a bloom of ..something, as if for just a moment the breeze picked up and everything was a little more chill and cold than before.
But it passed as he withdrew his touch.
"Logic shall be theirs. Make sure it is not to their detriment."

River Star bowed her head to him in thanks, offering her heartfelt gratitude to him. She was overjoyed with the blessing for her young ones. And she promised in her heart that his admonishment about teaching them to her would be followed. “Thank you greatly for the blessing.”
