The young zikwa stared sightlessly back at the totoma, their head tilting gently as he spoke. She wasn't used to it, the way he formed his words, but she thought she understood well enough.

"Oh," she said softy, drawing herself up from where she'd been laying to step gingerly over her still dozing twin. "If you're out of berries I can help with that. We have baskets so we can carry a lot at once." Nodding to herself she moved slowly but confidently towards the big baskets of berries, head dipping so she could grab one of the much smaller woven ones from where they'd been piled to one side.

At her ears, a soft grey foxbun was following soundlessly.

With a cocksure swagger and a crooked grin, I Me Mine stepped up to the berry flinging booth with all the confidence of a rooster at dawn. He tossed his mane, careful not to hit himself on his own spikes, and winked at anybody within winking range. All he had to do here was fling berries at targets- easy enough, right? And even if it wasn't, he was still going to show off, because that's who he was. He did what he liked, and he looked good doing it, and it got him the attention he wasn't above admitting he craved.

He tossed the first berry in the air experimentally, juggling it a little and keeping it bouncing before loading it in the sling. His first attempt hit a large paw print with a resounding splat, and he chuckled as he tossed the second one in the air. Amusing himself, he bounced it between his horns, rolled it down his face, and let it fly. He could have kept it going, contact juggling was definitely in his skillset- but he needed to balance showing off with actually playing the game. Again, he hit his target. Of course he did. He was great at anything he set his mind to, after all. He flexed a bit, letting what he was sure was an adoring crowd of onlookers (ok, so maybe they weren't all looking at him yet- that would change!) see just how casual and unconcerned he was. It was just berry-flinging after all; not some kind of life or death situation. He had to admit, it was a sweet little setup these booth babes had. The little slingshots were pretty fun, and all of the booth's proprietors were extremely easy on the eyes. Hot Kimeti, hot Zikwas, hot everyone. Maybe it was still the after-effects of that potion, but man. Everybody looked good.

Which was why he didn't really care when his third berry went wide, splatting directly into the ground. "Eh, win some, you lose some," he said to nobody in particular, rolling his shoulders in a nonchalant shrug. "So tell me," he said to nobody else particular. "Who's a fellow gotta kiss up to to get some more berries around here?"

Once acknowledged by both does, Shade drew in closer to them. He was doing his best to keep his cool, insisting that the hammering of his heart was because of his recent display of excellent aim. Even if it was really because of how Sweet Hereafter addressed him directly in front of another kin. "There aren't caimans ferocious enough to keep me away." The words honestly sounded so much cooler in his head, or when his father used such turn of phrase with his mother. Magnificent in Shadow could only hope the sincerity in his voice would properly express his eagerness and excitement to be here.

"N-not to say that it's dangerous here o-or that neither of you could manage to keep yourselves safe if it was." Ah, there it was, the unnecessary sentiments that his sister often mocked him for. Thankfully, Sweet let him know that she'd seen his performance and that helped recenter his thoughts.

"O-oh, that? I'm glad all my training is bearing fruit." Shade did not preen but his chest did puff out just the tiniest bit. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything," he looked to Guardian of Souls before bowing in greeting. It was definitely smoother than the first time he'd attempted it in front of Sweet, as was the practiced smile he gave the doe. "I'm Magnificent in Shadow."

Rep almost felt bad that he was trying to rob a presumably blind kin, but not bad enough to stop. He was hungry, and as large and muscular as he was, he needed a lot of food to get through the day. Normally he preferred meat over all else, because it was dense in good stuff, but berries would do in a pinch. Besides, everyone was just shooting these around, they had to have some to spare.

"Ye just need tae point me in the right direction." Rep said, feeling like making her help him steal the berries would probably be a step too far.

"I'm big strong and ugly enough to get them mysel."

This was dumb. Off Shoot really didn't know what he was thinking or what had done over him. He really didn't notice other kind as a general rule, but he's noticed him, cocksure and confident, wanding over to one of the booths, and Off Shoot had followed.

No plan on place, of course. Now he was just standing I'm awkwardly off to the side watching as the vibrant buck took his turn. Two hits and a miss, but the latter was brushed off with such easy, like he didn't care at all.

What must it feel like to not care? off Shoot could pretend it well, but deep down he cared. Too much. He cares so much he took to imagining what others thought of him. Let those faux opinions eat at him. Fuck.

He blinked, long tail swishing with the surge of nervous energy that's just swept over him. He needed to get out of there.

Sleep of Death was a little late. This wasn't particularly out of the ordinary; he was easily distracted, often pausing or redirecting to investigate something interesting. And there was so much that was interesting at the Winter Market! So much to see and hear, and he'd wandered here and there on his way to his family's booth before remembering that he had a goal. But here he was, finally, and he hadn't dropped the basket of berries he carried, nor left it behind, nor nibbled on it.

He carried it over to place with the rest of the stores of berries that were necessary for the berry-shooting game. He could try it for himself afterward, but he had his task to complete first.

Rp response: Snowy Ashes sniffed slightly as he came across the berry booth. Shoot berries at leaves? How hard could it be? He sneered to himself as he stepped up and placed berries in the basket. Taking aim the first time and hitting the big paw print he smirked a little, growing overly confident and way, way too cocky. "Hm. Not so hard at all. Just as I thought." he have a swish of his tail and loaded up the berries, took aim again (though it was by far less carefully than the first time) pulled it back and let go getting ready to crow in triumph. Only to watch as it went wide, and flew past the target. With a huff he loaded the basket again, actions jerky and even less careful than the last time and he pulled back again, barely taking aim before he let it go certain he'd be spot on this time only to feel a mix of emotions swirl over himself. Shame, which he quickly stomped down. Why should he feel shame? He did nothing wrong. Sure he was overly confident and maybe a smidge cocky but really it had seemed like such a straightforward and easy game. Clearly there had been more to it than he'd realized though and now he was studying the basket, the leaves, taing it more seriously, and from the shame came determination. "I see. Well then. Clearly a little harder than I thought and the first time was just dumb luck on my part. Very well. I'll come again tomorrow and try this again. See if I can't do better, hopefully I don't do any worse." and with that he gave a surprisingly gracious smile to the pair before he was making his way off to somewhere else in the market.

Rp response: Approaching another of the booths that dotted the distinctly summery Winter Market area, Phantom couldn't help but wonder how he'd do at trying to shoot a set of targets. As was his wont, he didn't rush to take a turn, instead taking a few moments to examine the device being used, and then to quietly cheer on a few other kin before finally stepping up himself. Even if he missed all of the targets, it looked fun.

Three small pawprints! He smiled to himself, pleasantly surprised at his own performance, before stepping aside to allow others a turn, as well

Strawberry had never played this game before, although she HAD heard of it. It was one of the most popular of the Winter Market, although she also had never quite thrown at a target before either.....

Taking a deep breath she threw with all her heart. Unfortunately, that was much too much and it soared well over all the targets.

"Oops...." she sighed and watched someone else much more successful out of the corner of her eye. "Hmm..."

Aiming more carefully she tossed another, and hit a tiny paw print on the edge.

"Hooray! I did it!" she crowed at the pretty kin next to her, then blushed and threw quickly when they looked over.

Missing by three kin lengths, she blushed brighter and darted away. A natural? Not so much... maybe she would try again tomorrow...

Last Rose was intrigued by the booth, enough to tell her wolf Decay to wait outside as she wandered her way in. The game looked like a fun try of skill, albeit one that she was not particularly versed in, and she was more than willing to give it a fair attempt. Winter Market was always an interesting time for the doe, who was used to handling things at her own pace. Booths could be more ephemeral than not (or simply easily lost within the sprawling area) and Last Rose always had to try something the moment it caught her attention, rather than when she was more willing to return. At least it seemed that the booth was not too crowded, so Last Rose didn't have to compete with too many other kin, which she greatly preferred.

Stepping up to the sling, Last Rose gave it a curious once-over before she made her first attempt. It, of course, ended in complete failure but that was expected and Last Rose didn't let herself give it too much thought. She simply pondered her attempt and how to make it better - perhaps pulling back on the sling more, or aiming in a different way? She eyed the leaves, her mind already calculating on how to improve her next attempts.

It seemed the thinking was worth the attempt, since her second try was met with great success. She smiled to herself, pleased that she had managed to hit a target with a high ticket count. For her final attempt she decided to aim for what looked like an easier target, unwilling to push her luck. That too was a success and she couldn't help but feel boosted by the try. She bobbed her head in a nod to the booth owners as she left, collecting Decay and making her way back out to the market.

That had been a nice little game.

Leaves You Breathless was astounded by all these wonderful booths that seem to have taken advantage of this snowless winter. But passing through Born of Death and Death Take Me's booth filled her with nostalgia of the past Winter Market. The rest of the booths had her senses reeling from these new, odd activities that reshaped one's psyche and one's very form sometimes. It all became too much to take one after the other.

But the berry range was different. It was simple, elegant, and relaxing. There were no gimmicks and what you saw was what you got. The pets roaming around looked interesting to take home as well. Perhaps she would gift one to Forward By Choice if she could get the one with the colors that reminded her of him.

She catches herself as she thinks these thoughts. It's been a while since she's talked to the totoma. She knows he follows around Heart and Home like some love sick puppy, but she could not help but feel some sort of uneasiness when she thinks about it. Was it jealousy? Certainly not! That would require her to acknowledge that there are.. feelings that she has for him. She shakes away the thought.

She nods to the proprietors and their children present before she happily takes her berries and rears back to take her shot at the wall. Unsurprisingly, she's lost her touch. One complete miss and some hits on the bigger, easier targets. That's fine, she had fun. And she knew she'd be coming back soon.
