Week 4 Prompt

The Ancient Zikwa have delighted in hearing about the silly fish everyone has encountered! While they converse with passersby and tend to the familiars in their humid little pocket of shadow, the area shifts. The wind almost blows an even stranger piece of shadow into their booth. The Lost World goes in to investigate. A short time later, she emerges, out of breath and wild eyed.

"You have to see this," she declares, excitement guiding her tone.

Any kin who enters the strange patch of not-shadow is transported to another world. The world...of Jurassic Park [cue theme song]. When kin enter, they are transformed into a dinosaur on the premises of the now-powered down park.

Entries can earn two tickets this week! One ticket for describing what kind of dinosaur your kin is and what they look like. A second ticket for RP of them having free rein at the Park. The second ticket will only be earned for RP of 300+ words.

The ground trembles beneath thick, bony feet, each step a minor earthquake compared to the footfalls of his previous existence. His horns, once short and pointed on his skull, are now one large dome of rock-hard bone. This is no longer the gently shadowed swamp of Matope, where kin-song thrummed through the crisp winter air in joyous communion. This is Jurassic Park, where the warm air is heavy with humidity and the distant echoing cries of many creatures fills the air with strange sounds.

He is a pachycephalosaurus, a walking tank sculpted from bone and sinew. His previous life as a kimeti, a mere blip in the grand timeline of existence, feels like a distant dream, the memory of cypress and frog song replaced by the crunch of fallen logs and the primal thrumming of his own reptilian heart.

The air is thick with unfamiliar scents, a pungent mix of damp earth, musk, and a hint of something metallic, something predatory. He snorts, the sound rumbling through his chest like a miniature volcano erupting. Danger is a palpable presence here, a silent predator lurking in the dense foliage.

His instincts, honed by millions of years of evolution, urge him to find his herd. Safety. He remembers, from some forgotten corner of his kimeti mind, the comfort of numbers, of a large family, and the reassurance of numbers and support against any danger. But where is his herd? Are they, too, transformed into these lumbering behemoths, or are they still grazing in the swampy meadows of his lost life?

He lets out a low bellow, a call that both echoes his former voice and resonates with the guttural power of his new form. The jungle listens, then answers. A distant rumble, like thunder rolling through the leaves, draws him forward. He crashes through undergrowth, his armored head parting the ferns like a battering ram.

The rumble grows louder, morphing into a chorus of bellows, grunts, and the rhythmic thud of powerful feet. He crests a rise, and there, in a sun-dappled clearing, grazes his herd. They are a familiar sight of dappled brown and rust, earthy and wam like him. Not kimeti, of course, but other pachycephalosaurs, their knobby heads a forest of bone against the emerald backdrop.

Relief washes over him, warm and heavy. He belongs here, with these creatures of bone and bellow. The songs of his past life may be fading, but he understands the language of feet stamping and head swaying; the gruff symphony of shared ancestry of his herd. He joins them, his head held high, a pachycephalosaurus in Jurassic Park, ready to face whatever this strange, magnificent world throws his way.

The sun dips low, casting long shadows across the clearing as strange creatures with bright, light-projecting eyes roll past carrying small, strange, creatures who observe them. They pose no real threat to such a large herd, so he ignores them as he joins his family, nuzzling their rough hides a comforting reminder of his place in this prehistoric puzzle. He is a kimeti no more, but he is not bereft. He is a pachycephalosaurus, a survivor, a part of something far greater than himself. And as the jungle settles into sweet velvet darkness, he lets out a contented bellow, a testament to his new life in the heart of this strange, lost world.

On an absolutely high of getting so many hits in the Berry Toss, Wisteria poked her nose into a new booth!

Encouraged to step into a spooky shadow, she gazed around amazed at a bright green, misty forest. The trees were tall, the greenery was huge, and she took a step forward and almost stumbled. Her head was suddenly so heavy! And her balance was all off, her tail was... wait... why was she... where did all her colors go? She was a faded green and brown with subtle stripes along her thick legs.

She blinked around and saw some water, and rumbled over, stomping into the grass. Looking into the water, she saw she was .... well... MASSIVE. Her face was beaked, and three huge curving horns spiked out far - a glorious frill around her neck. Feeling... strong, fearless, she went tearing off into the underbrush - trumpeting excitedly into the mists. Best Winter Market Ever!

Seeing some bright berries, she took a nibble. Gack! They were horrible! Bitter, tingling, no thank you! Running towards a log, she tried to leap over it and thudded head first into it. Not for leaping, understood! But for running, absolutely for running.

Finding a grassy plain, Wisteria waddled swiftly happily, swooshing around the tall grass and under the hot gaze of the sun - the mist finally starting to burn off. Cresting a hill, she gazed amazed around at this new glimpse of such a magical place. In the distance she could see other strange large lizards, heads tall grazing at big leaves. Other thunderous roars echoed through the trees, and huge footsteps sounded towards her.

"Maybe someone else is here too!" she chirped as she ran that way, only to see something.... very large. Very fast, with a maw full of very sharp teeth.

"Uh! Goodbye!" she cried out as she ran back towards the shadowed entrance, not wanting to test her luck against such a potential foe.

Entry: Follow the Storm eased his way into the strangely lit space, finding that with each step he took his footfalls were heavier and heavier. In a subtle yet noticeable way, he slowly rose in height and began to walk on only his hind legs. He could suddenly see his snout much more than normal and a quick glance behind him let him know that his tail was much thicker and sturdier, helping him to balance on his precarious two legs.

When his transformation was done, Storm looked around his surroundings. He was in a very lush, humid place that begged to be explored. It was a bit odd to see the forest from this high up, looking down at some smaller trees and shrubs rather than at eye level with him. His clawed feet dug into the soft dirt as he roamed, leaving behind rather intimidating footprints.

He reached a fence eventually, one that was taller than Storm even in his new body. He pushed against it with his shoulder but the fixture was strong, so he began to walk along it to see if he could find a break. He wanted to see what was on the other side! He could hear noises, strange sounds he'd never heard before coming from over there. It almost sounded like a roar, but not a natural one.

"Hm," he hummed to himself. "Odd noise. I wonder what it is..."

He didn't have to wait long. A strange, box like thing came whipping through the trees on the other side of the fence, four circles attached to it that seemed to make it move. The roaring was coming from this odd thing. Storm watched it with interest as it drove through a small gate that he wouldn't be able to fit through, right onto his side of the fence!

"That is so odd," he murmured again, watching the strange square as it moved. He followed it which made it go faster. Wow, what a fun game! Picking up the pace himself, Storm followed the odd thing that was now screaming on top of the roaring until it disappeared into the forest. He slowed his run, listening to the box with circles for legs as its roaring slowly faded away.

"Hm. Strange. Oh well," he said with a little shrug before heading off to explore more.

Meanwhile, the humans in the jeep will long retell the tale of how they were chased by a vicious Baryonyx.
