Week 2 Prompt
The Ancient Zikwa expressed their appreciation to every kin who shared their favorite seasonal foods with them. Who knew there was such a wealth of tasty things in this world outside of their little cave system! They hope that the foods they brought with them are at least interesting to the visitors to their booth. The plants, mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, and fish (no, not the round ones floating about) were similar, but not entirely what the Winter Market goers were familiar with.
Now, with full stomachs and their curiosity of the area piqued, the Ancient Zikwa are curious about something new. They've heard about formidable predators in the Swamp called crocodiles. Tell them a story about them, be it an encounter you've heard about or one you've had yourself.
This prompt is open until Friday, December 8th at 11:59pm. Tickets from this week will roll over to the next. All other booth games are still on as normal!

Fun fact!: Ammonoids, also known as ammonites, rather than being related to the very similarly shaped Nautilus, are actually more closely related to cephalopods such as squids and octopi. And, much like modern cephalopods, also may have sprayed ink as a way to avoid predators, this being a possibility due to ink having been preserved in fossils.

Fun fact!: The Perucetus colossus, or colossal whale, is a species of early whale that lived near Peru during the Bartonian age. The colossal whale is believed to have rivaled, if not surpassed, the weight of the currently known heaviest animal, the blue whale. This is believed to be the case due to their incredibly dense and thick bones.

Entry: "Oh, have I got a story for you," Intrusive Thought said with a toothy grin of his own that looked quite a bit like the maw of the crocodiles the Zikwa were so curious about.
"I was thirsty so I stopped by what I thought was a pretty decent clearing in the Swamp to get a drink. The water wasn't murky or full of lily pads, no real place for any of them to hide, yet one snuck up on me. It got just a step or two away before it lunged!" He snapped his own jaws for effect, leaning in to sell the scare.
"I felt the teeth on that thing graze my nose, but I jerked back in time to miss the worse of its bite. Once its cover is blown it doesn't have much fight, so I was able to get away. But it was definitely a close one!"

Drowner wouldn't be content to merely tell these strangers about her kindred spirits, no - she brought hers to be seen by them, and Fake Log was kept sated with a marshfowl snack to keep the caiman disinclined from causing any... accidents. (Though Drowner wouldn't be opposed to watching chaos erupt if one of them was fool enough to get too close.)
"Mine was a gift, an egg I discovered freshly hatching from the nest before the mother came to unearth her children. I took the baby for myself. They are wonderful creatures you know, and they will respect you if you show them you are of similar worth. It's really that simple."
Fake Log's jaws crunched on the dead bird as if for emphasis before the crocodilian tossed its head back and swallowed the meal whole.

Entry:Behemoth shuddered, his trademark carefree grin gone. "It was a ghastly affair."
The trip down memory lane made his pulse speed up and the hair on his spine point straight to the sky. "It chased me. Other kin tried to help, but it didn't go after them. And if I tripped, it would slow down and nip at my ankles. If crocs could laugh, I think this one was mocking and cackling at me. It would huff and roll its eyes when I fell into the cattails or when I got stuck in the quicksand. Eventually, I passed out in fright and exhaustion and woke up alone but covered in honey and sleeping caiman cuddling in my hair me. The thing was quite sadistic!"
Behemoth mentally shook himself. "If you come across a green, teal, brown, and orange crocodile with flames in its eyes and wings, flee immediately!"
Spoiler alert: it was actually a particular feathered serpent. Behemoth isn't the best with bitey reptiles. He sees big teeths and think they're all the same.
