The Winter Market had been interesting for him, he'd had a lot of fun wandering around though he'd not made it till the last few days of it all when so many of the booths were winding down, or in the case of a few, were completely closed down.
Still, he'd heard some interesting stories as he'd wandered around about some of them. One about stones being rolled sounded like it had been fun. One about baiting a badger made him shiver a little, he didn't think he'd have been any good at that one. Another where you got mystery food and drinks could have been interesting. The idea of kissing lizards amused him, but he was used to the little dragons around the cave so maybe that's why that one didn't seem so bad to him.
In fact the only booth he really ended up doing had been an interesting little fortune telling booth, and while he'd been uncertain going to it, it had been something he truly enjoyed. Even now, the little fortunes he got, stuck with him, and it was an experience he hadn't fully talked to the twins about either. Even now, the fortunes filled his head.
THE FLOOD represents the cycle of endings and beginnings, a reminder that all things must pass.
It left him wondering what would pass. His stuttering is what he hoped if this one was taken along with the second fortune he'd gotten. It was better every day in fact, a thing that pleased the smaller than normal buck immensely! He could tell his confidence was growing, his insecurities fading, and he was sure that was part of what The Flood was implying there. It had to be!
The spring will be abundant. Your true love will go to great odds to prove themselves for you. You will shed your weaknesses and grow from them
The three part fortune from the orb had been even more interesting to him though. The spring was always abundant, and something everyone looked forward to. Fresh greens, new berries and such, it was a great time. But the thought that Cave Yell or Echo would feel the need to prove anything to him was still ridiculous because he couldn't see what they'd ever have to prove to him. They were perfect in his eyes, unlike himself. Still he was working on being better, stronger, worthier of their time, attention, and affection. It was why he was working so hard to get over his shyness and insecurities, and some days found him with hardly a stutter, while others, he gave up trying to talk to anyone, even the twins and merely kept to himself.
He had a long way to go, to prove himself to them was how he saw it, but it was worth every ounce of struggle, and hard work he put into it. To be seen as worthy of being at the sides of the two of them was one of his dearest wishes, because he was sure there was some both within their family system, and without that wondered what the two of them saw in him. Sure, he fit the usual family preference of being smaller, and more prey-like, but beyond that some days he didn't see the draw he had for the twins, but he was glad it was there! He had no real complaints. At least none that involved a kin other than himself.
