[B] In Want of a Blessing

Post by Lutz »

Things were happening.

Made of Stardust knew, at some point, his little indulgences would wind up with him becoming a father. It wasn't something that loomed over him, but it had always been present in the back of his mind. He felt like he'd be a good father - fun, loving, caring - but only time would tell. It seemed that time would be coming sooner rather than later at last, so it was with a sense of duty that he headed through the chilly swamp to find as open an area as he could find.

Although he'd heard stories about Legendary kin, he'd never met one himself. He knew there were ways to draw them in, but he'd never had the motive to do so until now. Stardust figured he'd meet one eventually just by crossing paths, but now he was hoping one would come to him as he found a little meadow that would probably be soggy and more of a small bog in the warmer months. As it was now, the ground was frozen beneath his hooves, the sunlight catching on the little icy cocoons that encompassed the grass and twigs that remained.

Stardust gazed up at the blue sky before closing his eyes. He was a fairly empathetic fellow and hoped that it would lend itself well to finding a stag or mare that was nearby. He hummed quietly as he thought about what he was looking for, hoping for, before he spoke softly. Did he need to speak? He wasn't sure. Maybe just projecting into the swamp was enough. But he spoke nonetheless, finding it helped him focus on what he wanted.

"I'm looking for someone to bless my children, if anyone would be so inclined. I have a little gift as well."

He'd brought along some berries he'd been saving from the frost, keeping them in his den so they didn't spoil. Frozen berries weren't bad if you ate them right after they succumbed to the ice, but eventually they lost their flavor and turned into terrible little red or black ice balls. These, however, were nice and fresh still, plucked from a bush just a day or so before the unnatural warmth ended.

[B] In Want of a Blessing

Post by Beejoux »

"Gifts are not necessary," spoke a soft, bright voice from the edge of the clearing. A pale doe with glowing eyes and vivid red hair, tail a rainbow fan of colorful feathers. She was smiling as she approached, humming a soft note of amused merriment. Did other kin touched by the Motherfather require gifts to bestow their blessings? She hadn't met one that did, but perhaps it was possible.

"Not for me, at least. I wouldn't say no to a snack, but my blessing doesn't hinge on your generosity."

Stardust flinched slightly at the voice that came almost instantly after his request. He turned to face the mare that stepped out into the clearing, his eyes widening in open awe, mouth slightly agape. She was beautiful! And seemed to have a presence about her that other kin didn't. He couldn't put his hoof on what it was, but a sense of calmness had come over him with her appearance. The stress that had settled in his gut about trying to find a Legendary kin was snuffed out instantly.

"Then a snack it shall be and nothing more," he said with a grin once he found his words again, nudging the berries forward just a bit with a hoof. "You'll have to forgive me, I've not done this before. Better to be extra prepared then found lacking."
