Shrine's Corn Maze (Closed)

As you’re enjoying all the booths you see one in particular that’s curious, to say the least. Clearly, they didn’t get the memo about the tropics. A black zik with glowing blue markings stares at you, her gaze seeming to peer into your very soul. “Ah, so you’ve decided to brave my booth. Perhaps your bravery will be rewarded.” She gestures for you to follow her through an archway.

When you step through it, something happens. A young woman with blue hair smiles at you. “Do you dare to brave the maze I’ve made? Or will you turn around and head elsewhere. Fortune favors the bold, or so they say.” She waves her hand towards a corn maze.

She gives a smile, one that you don’t exactly feel with your soul. “Beware the twists and turns, for there are tasks that lay within, if you happen to make it to center… well. You’ll see if we meet again.” She steps backwards into the shadows and seems to just disappear. Well, the choice is yours. Do you enter?

Rules and guidelines.
1. This is completely optional when it comes to the RP element here. You’re welcome to write up something or just post the information from the rolls with the tickets total at the end.
2. You may roll 1d6 or 3d6. However you want to do it is up to you. If there are supplemental rolls feel free to roll those in your post as additional rolls when/if you get to them. (I believe matope allows posts to add additional rolls? If not just post additional rolls in a new post)
3. You may enter this up to 3 times! Preferably with 3 different kin, but it’s up to you.
3.2 Please only post once a week! Weeks start over Sunday at midnight (EST to make it simple) evening sometime MST (Because I'm an old lady and never stay up late anymore XD).
4. You are welcome to RP this out with a friend, or even a group. If you do so, I recommend that you head on over to the RP forum and then link the RP in the form. If you rp this out I will reward extra tickets, if you rp with a friend or group, I will reward even more tickets.
5. All of these kin are children from The Circle's members. They can remain part of the cult tribe or they may go elsewhere. (the tribe is still a major WIP because what is time XD but we have the basic ideas about it down ;u;) Information about them is below if you decide to keep your kin there.
6. Every week I will roll from the current list of tickets and that person will get the first kin listed in their preference list, this will happen during Week 1 and Week 2. Week 3 will be a mass roll from all remaining tickets.
7. You may only win once in here, but you're welcome to RP and roll for funsies too! Just state in your post that you're doing it for the fun of it - preferably in the tickets earned section.
The Whole Tribe is a MAJOR WIP. We've mostly been discussing it in discord and the tribe thread itself is just a skeleton. We do hope to get it filled out soon though. Essentially they do perform sacrifices, but it's not all the time and it's usually a big deal when they do and make a celebration out of it.

Some Information about The Circle and it's members.
Description
Not for the feint of heart, this tribe is all about sacrificing to the blob. I mean cough cough they focus on reincarnation.

The Cult Leaders
They are equal members of the Tribe, though each one has their own specific specialty and task that they have within the Circle.
Image
Death in a Trap "Death Trap" - Fire, Hunts down potential sacrifices
Image
Shrine - Water, Shrine Keeper, Cleanses potential sacrifices and ensures the sacrificial space is clean
Image
Sigil - Air, Scholar, Draws magic circles
Image
Vessel - Earth,
The Lambs (rest of the tribe)
Can be Spiritualists, Scholars, Hunters, Shrine Keepers etc

Rolls and options
Objective:
Navigate through the maze and roll dice to determine your path.
Game Flow:
Players begin at the Outer Ring, progress to the Middle Maze, and conclude in the Inner Sanctum. Each major decision is determined by rolling a six-sided die.
Remember, you can choose to roll 1d6 in 3 different posts, or you may roll 3d6 and then go that route, whatever you want to do!

Dice 1- Outer Ring (Entry Choices)
Roll 1–2: "Follow the sound of rustling leaves."
Roll 3–4: "Take the trail lit by faint glowing orbs."
Roll 5–6: "Step into the shadows of the tall stalks."
Outcome Options:
Rustling Leaves (1–2): You find a random feather.
Glowing Orbs (3–4): A friendly scarecrow asks a riddle. "The more there is, the less you see. What is it?" PM Astoria your answer (+2 tickets if you solve it. No obligation to attempt to answer if you don't want to)
Shadows (5–6): A dead end, but you discover a hidden key. (RNG 1d6 even # you keep the key, odds you leave it) if even +1 ticket

Dice 2- Middle Maze (Advancing Choices)
Roll 1–2: "Follow the carved pumpkins."
Roll 3–4: "Head toward the faint sound of music."
Roll 5–6: "Explore the tunnel dug into the earth."
Outcome Options:
Carved Pumpkins (1–2): You encounter a challenge: arrange corn husks by size.
-Roll an additional 1d6-
o Roll a 1-2 -You tried, but a scarecrow came and stole some. +1 Tickets for trying
o Roll a 3-You succeeded without issue. 3+ Tickets
o Roll a 4-5 -You were so close but then a crow came and took one. +1 Tickets for trying OR, if you found a feather in the Outer Ring you may offer it to the crow and it will give you back the corn husk. +2 since you had to trade in order to win.
o Roll a 6-You succeeded without issue. 3+ Tickets
Faint Music (3–4): A group of playful crows offers a choice: trade your key (if found earlier) for +2 tickets, or keep it and see if you're able to use it later.
Earth Tunnel (5–6): A spooky cavern with glowing crystals. There's a crystal puzzle where you have to align them a certain way. RNG 1d3
Roll 1 - You succeed! +2 tickets
Roll 2- You weren't able to figure it out. You continue on your way
Roll 3- You were so close! +1 ticket for a valiant attempt

Dice 3-Inner Sanctum (Final Choices)
Roll 1–2: "Climb the ladder into the watchtower above the maze."
Roll 3–4: "Enter the golden-lit center of the maze."
Roll 5–6: "Choose the mysterious, fog-covered path."
Outcome Options:
Watchtower (1–2): You spot an escape route and exit the maze. (+1 ticket for completing the maze.)
Golden-Lit Center (3–4): You find the maze master, who grants +3 tickets for reaching the heart of the maze.
Foggy Path (5–6): A hidden treasure chest with bonus tickets. (+1 ticket, or +3 if have a key from the Outer Ring.)

Complete a solo rp with your kin! This will earn you 3 additional tickets, AND, for each kin that reaches 500 words, you can claim the shop standard RP POINT! Make sure you post it in the rp subforum! (It can also be posted in here, as long as it's in 1 post <3)

Example Post! First dice is the main rolls, 2nd die is the prompt die. (first 2 dice shown)

3. Glowing Orbs (3–4): A friendly scarecrow asks a riddle. "The more there is, the less you see. What is it?" PM Astoria your answer (+2 tickets if you solve it. No obligation to attempt to answer if you don't want to)
(I would PM Astoria and tell her my answer. If it's correct she'll award you two tickets! She'll add them to the list, no need to do anything with them on your end!)
5. Earth Tunnel (5–6): A spooky cavern with glowing crystals. There's a crystal puzzle where you have to align them a certain way. RNG 1d3
Roll 3- You were so close! +1 ticket for a valiant attempt
(I'm adding an additional 1d3 to my post)
6. Foggy Path (5–6): A hidden treasure chest with bonus tickets. (+1 ticket, or +3 if have a key from the Outer Ring.)

You could also do it this way I realized. (since dice do go in order)
Roll 1d6 do the prompt.
4 Glowing Orbs (3–4): A friendly scarecrow asks a riddle. "The more there is, the less you see. What is it?" PM Astoria your answer (+2 tickets if you solve it. No obligation to attempt to answer if you don't want to)
Roll another 1d6
1 Carved Pumpkins (1–2): You encounter a challenge: arrange corn husks by size.
-Roll an additional 1d6-
(so I follow the prompt here and roll another 1d6)
o Roll a 1-2 -You tried, but a scarecrow came and stole some. +1 Tickets for trying
then roll the 3rd 1d6
6 Foggy Path (5–6): A hidden treasure chest with bonus tickets. (+1 ticket, or +3 if have a key from the Outer Ring.)

Tickets: 2 Tickets (in reality this is 4 but I'll add those 2 tickets to the list with a note what it's from :) ) (ironically I got the same amount of tickets for both versions lol)

But the above is the basic amount of tickets you can get and how it looks. You're able to earn more by doing roleplay or art :) I didn't provide examples of those.

Shrine's Corn Maze

Post by Scaramouche Fandango »

If Reaper had still been in possession of her tail, she'd be whisking it back and forth in frustration. Her intel hadn't been wrong, per se. It had just been stupid. It had been impressed upon her by one of her scouts, who would remain nameless for the moment, that there was something lurking at the dark heart of the winter market. Her family rarely came to these things, as... tainted as they were with the rabble. Despite the density of kin, recruitment opportunities tended to fall flat here, and now another group that dabbled in darkness and sacrifice had arisen, and so she'd come out to investigate the threat- and destroy it if necessary.

As soon as she arrived, her immediate instincts told her it was a trap. The Swamp was doing its unpredictable thing again, twisting her out of shape, out of normal. She shuddered as she stood- she'd felt nothing, but she'd still managed to imagine it. Her skin sloughing, swirling, turning to these black... things she wore on her form. It was enough to make you want to scream, but she held her tongue, because she was Reaper, Chosen One's emissary and child in darkness, and she would do anything to protect her kin. She braved the shape change, braved the weirdness, and for what? A corn maze. She came all the way out here for a corn maze.

She thought about turning around and going home, going back to the form she knew so well, and leaving this behind her. "Oh, we don't need to worry, they just set up a friggin' harvest festival."

But what was a harvest if not a reaping? It was not her job to make assumptions. It was her job to investigate thoroughly, to draw conclusions based on all of the evidence, and make a full report. So, rolling her eyes, she set foot into the corn maze.

There were three obvious ways to go, and one was far more interesting than the others. The sound of rustling leaves could be ignored; it was simply the way that cornstalks worked. Nothing particularly tempting about that. But the glowing orbs? Intriguing. After the... incident that had left her marked, touched by light, she'd been even more wary and cautious about such things.

Following the dancing lights seemed to be the right decision, although she shuddered at the scarecrow's touch. How was this thing moving? How did it speak? Perhaps there was more to this group than she'd thought, if they could awaken such things. A murmured answer to its riddle, and she pushed forward.

The maze expanded before her, and sloped strangely downwards. A tunnel? Once again, the obvious choice presented itself. Reaper preferred to move in darkness, her keen eyes attuned to it. In the quiet of the packed earth, she found herself drawn once more to a glow- this one softer, quieter, and coming from crystals. The lattice puzzle was easily solved, and she found herself begrudgingly acknowledging something; whether they'd built this themselves or sung the earth into shape through ritual and spell, there was likely more to this group than she'd initially assumed.

Which, after all, was why she'd stayed. Even something that looked as innocent as a corn maze on the outside could reveal secrets, and information was power. She would tell of this corn maze, and her father would decide what to do next.

After the tunnel's twists and turns, she emerged once again into the warm night air, faced by-

"You again!" she said, mustering her enthusiasm. The blue-haired maze maker faced her, although Reaper could not quite read the look on her face. "Well, I made it. What happens next?"

(Wrote this before I realized it should go in the RP forum; let me know if you want me to delete this post to clear up the thread!)
