In Harmony's hoof paused mid stride. The buck in front of her was too beautiful, she was instantly overwhelmed by his stately aura and good looks. The mare stopped, considering just turning away. There's probably a "better" mare or stag that a male this magnificent would rather be answered by. He had not seemed to notice her yet, so she began to back away very quietly.
"Ah, fair Ascended, you came to my call! I am overjoyed that you have arrived." His voice was low, but firm. Rats, she was spotted before she could disappear back into the treeline. He bowed his head to her and her stomach leapt to her chest. Oh no no no I feel like this should be reversed!! she thought in horror."No, I mean, uhm, Yes, I heard your call. Um.." she pawed at the ground restlessly. Her self esteem was screaming in agony.
Wreathed smiled. "I have fathered children before, but.." he paused a little, a slight flush in his cheeks. "This time is very...different..."
"Oh, different how?" Curiosity wrestled down the horror.
"My partner now is a buck like me. This is...a first for me and I have decided I want the best for him since he will go through much hardship. My last partner labouring seemed difficult. I regret not asking for the favours of the Motherfather then, a mistake I won't make again."
Harmony would swoon if she were a romantic, but instead; "Aww. How caring of you to ask."
Wreath bowed his head again at her comment. The horror pinned her curiosity and she felt that stomach floating feeling again. Harmony shook her head rapidly. "Please, you don't have to bow...ah...I am here to serve the kin of the swamp, I don't need such ceremony." That sounded Legendary right?
Wreath chuckled to himself silently. "So, fair Ascended, please, I would ask of your a blessing for my partner and our children." He bowed again, casting his eyes up to watch the mare squirm uncomfortably.
"Ughh..please just.." She did a little sigh and a little head shake to snap her out of her mental turmoil. The faster the blessing happened, the sooner she could run away. She drew herself up, trying to seem as stately as Wreathed.
"May the bringing of life into the Motherfather's Swamp go as smooth and gently as a spring stream and let the children coming be blessed with the majesty and kindness of their fathers."
Wreathed beamed at the mares words. "Oh thank you fair Ascended, I am every so thankful for you." He bowed his head till his nose almost grazed the ground, eyes closed in reverence. A chilly breeze swished against his body and he glanced up. The place where the mare had stood was vacant. He looked around a bit, but there was no evidence she'd even been there. He chuckled to himself again. He probably should not have teased the mare so much, but she was so cute while she was mortified.
The buck trotted away to find his partner, excited to share the news. Should the occasion rise again, he would seek her, and only her out. He was sure she would be thrilled.
