[SOLO: Blessing] Lost(lostlostlost) Again [ Blackfrost/Sleepless ]

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft] The first time Blackfrost had seen her, he'd thought she was winter, walking. Winter itself, or a facet of the Motherfather, dressed in snows as winter, drifting through his whitecapped lands. She was utterly beautiful, but he had not thought of it as such when he'd first seen her - he had thought that she was winter, perfect and divine. A goddess that had deigned to bless him with a presence, and he was only a lowly Blackfrost.

It was only when she came to him, and moved, and spoke, and breathed frosted breath, did he know that she was not winter, but a doe. (Actually, she'd had to tell him.) Still, she was perfect and divine - and utterly beautiful.

[imgright]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgright] "Mmhmm," the witch said, scratching assiduous marks into the ground as he spoke, "when you say winter, do you mean she had any sort of unusual physiology? Like body parts of literal ice, or snow - that kind of thing?"

Not that he had noticed. But she had drifting hair of snowy silver, and horns that looked just like the dead, black points of bare winter boughs.

"Eh," she shrugged, tossing her leafy antlers.

She'd seemed slightly disappointed, and also somewhat dismissive, which Blackfrost thought was an inappropriate response to a doe that was divine and perfectly winter. But she was a witch, and Swamp-touched, so perhaps her standards of admiration were different from a normal kin's.

(They were, but not because she was a witch, which she actually wasn't, or Swamp-touched.)

She'd shared that her name was Ghost of Winter's Breath, and then time passed, and they'd shared various other things beside. And he was just a lowly Blackfrost, and he was in reverence, and then he was blessed, the warmth again suffusing through his frosty chest.

And, because he was prone to fretting, he thought, he must again seek a blessing, and since she was the only Legendary he knew how to find, he set out for her again. This time, he knew the way - more or less - to the misty bower, and he would - hopefully - know the way back, and it would be much less arduous than before.

"I mean," she said, "the last time went well, right?"

He had eventually been taught that questions of this sort were usually rhetorical. This didn't sound rhetorical. This sounded like she couldn't remember. Which was fair, she probably blessed a lot of people.

(She really didn’t. People generally thought she was an evil witch, which doesn't get a lot of Legendary business. But she also really didn't remember, because they did not have a weird physiology.)

Yes. Thanks to her blessing, both children and mother had been safe. His children were beautiful joys, and he would always be grateful to their wonderful mother.

"Then no reason for it to go wrong this time."

She laughed, nervously, and that. Really. Worried him.

But she'd closed her eyes, and frozen in place in the way he now recognised. And then she opened her eyes again, and said:

"There. Done. Now, please leave."

He was very grateful.

"Yes, yes, feel free to come back again when you next have kids. Now go."

He left. That was her way. It'd worked before, so who was he to question. Instead, he should hurry back to fuss over Ghost of Winter's Breath - the mountain's foot was cold, in winter, even colder.

At least this time he knew the way home.

(Dear reader: he did not.)
