He was a doe. One whose head had been turned by a tail swaying as the buck strutted through the swamp. And one thing had led to another . . .
Between Dusk and Dawn sighed, belly starting to extend downward as the extra weight of children became visible. He—or, perhaps, she?—hadn't considered the consequences and while there was no regret, the trial of pregnancy was a lot harder than he could have imagined. He had never had children before and he knew now how his sisters had fared in their lives since they were young. Indeed, he had no idea if he had niblings or cousins. Until now, he had never given it much thought but now he couldn't help wishing he had. At least someone to help him through this difficult time.
It had taken him a couple of days to decide upon finding a Legendary and then one more to prepare mentally for the task of traveling while pregnant. His hooves were sore and his ankles were swollen; he—she felt like a 100 year old fallen log expected to continue hunting and gathering and moving around. It was far too much to ask of anyone and she was half convinced the children wouldn't even make it to birth at this rate. And that was not a risk she was willing to take.
"My, you are in a predictament," Lull in Sunlight mused, a slight amusement dancing in her voice as she took in the hobbling mess of a doe. At least the kin in question, looked like a doe, but from the way it moved and talked. "Did you know the flower would turn you into a doe?"
Between Dusk and Dawn jumped, nearly falling over in the process at the sudden voice, and then relaxed when she saw it was a Legendary.
"Yes, but I expected it would only be a night or two and then . . ." she blushed hot under her fur, a dashing pink that blended in completely with her coloring.
"You were smitten with a kitten," the mare laughed.
"Did—" Had he said s—
"You mentioned a tail swaying, I assumed correctly, it seems that it was attached to a cat-like kin," she smiled, kindly. A rarity when it came to blessings but this was her first time seeing a kin transformed and it was amusing to her.
"I fear I will fail these children before they're born. I don't know what I'm doing and I want them to be all right," Between Dusk and Dawn pleaded.
"None of us know what we're doing; we follow instinct and fear and advice and learn each time we go through it. If you want what is best for your children, then you're doing everything right. But, yes, I will bless them as you desire."
The doe nearly fainted in relief but managed to stay upright, bowing her head in thanks and tears suddenly pooled in her eyes.
"Your children will be healthy and happy, they shall not fall pray to witches or demons, and they shall live long lives unbothered by fears of their own making," she grinned, a small but sharp jab at living within his own head.
Lull in Sunlight considered for a moment, "Now you lie down and I'll bring you something to eat. You're going to need more energy than you have for the rest of this pregnancy."
