[B] Count Your Blessings [Egg-Sitter & Albatross]

Post by CelestialRequiem »

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft]Months later and Egg-Sitter was still rather proud of the meal he'd made for a pretty doe who'd come to visit Rise and Shine. Roasted acorns, a turtle shell full of fresh greens and flowers, and fish cooked with carefully selected herbs had led to a very pleasant evening with her. And now he was expecting to be a father again. He'd been a bit lazy with his last clutch, not bothering to seek out an ascended kin to bless his children. But his mother wasn't having any of that this time and had made it very clearly that he would be finding someone to bless this clutch. He could have asked one of the legendaries that hung around the tribe, but Cue Queue was kind of terrifying and Egg-Sitter just felt awkward asking The Killing Moon. So, here he was, wandering about the swamp in hopes of finding someone to bless his new foals. He had brought an offering of roasted beetle pupa in the hopes of quickly enticing an ascended kin to him.

Something delicious smelling was afoot. And true to form, No Face ran off from the octofurbody in search of said delight. Sniffing the air, his incredibly long body alert and upright, he grew in height. A frightening thing to behold, the target sighted, he scuttle-sprinted toward the Kiokote the color of layered sand. Gibberish sprang forth from his beak. It was an odd tactic since most prey tended to be the ambush type, but this one was a strange one even among its own. It liked to employ the element of surprise. It lunged forward and bit off a roasted beetle pupa and dashed off, leaving the octofurbody to clean up its mess. Stunned, the octofurbody waved a few tentacles.

"Chirppppppp"

It was a moment before Egg-Sitter reacted in any way to what had just happened. His brain needed the time to try and process everything, and even after that he was still very confused. Had something just tried to attack him? What even was that creature? It looked sort of like a cave worm but there was something distinctly....wrong about it. Extremely on edge now, Egg-Sitter nearly jumped out of his skin when another strange creature chirped at him. He stared at the fluffy-haired thing tensely, waiting for it to attack. When that didn't happen, he laughed uncomfortably and gave an anxious greeting. "Uhhh....h-hello?"

This form was amazing for many things, but speech was limited. And since No Face abandoned her, Albatross was left looking like a piece of pond scum by association. But perhaps there was a way to make amends and after all, there were still some roasted beetle pupa/pupae left. Albatross waddled up to the Kiokote after he greeted her and used two different tentacles to poke meaningfully at the roasted bug with one tentacle while the other one pointed into her gaping maw. She cooed encouragingly.

There was something quite unsettling about this creature. Maybe it was all those appendages it used to drag itself across the ground. Or the large, soul-piercing eyes. Or the bird-like beak on such a fuzzy animal...

But at least it seemed friendly enough. It seemed more interested in his tasty offerings rather than Egg-Sitter himself, anyways. Which was a bit unfortunate. "Oh. I uh....I was kind of saving these." He glanced between the small collection of pupae and the hungry thing. "I guess I can spare one more." He carefully nudged one towards his new friend.

"That should still be enough for the blessing....I hope."

Albatross' eyes lit with the fire of a thousand suns raining down from the sky. The roasted thing consumed, like a magical unfurling of the sweetest flower, she transformed to her Mare form.

"Sup? That was delicious, thank you. You're looking for a blessing are you?" She smiled and there may have been a roasted leg stuck between her teeth, but was neither here nor there.

Egg-Sitter didn't have a response for a good while. He knew legendaries could take on other shapes but he'd never actually seen the transformation in person. Nor had he been expecting the mildly unsettling creature to be one. After some dumbfounded staring, he finally remembered how to speak again. Or mostly how to, anyways.

"I-I-uh...A ble-Yes! I need a....um...I'm looking for a blessing. Yes." He coughed awkwardly, really thrown off by this unexpected revelation.

"Cool."

Albatross looked around and behind just for good measure. The coast was clear.

"I bless your clutch to be mighty and strong and very fast and running away. Just like I am. Here, this is yours to keep. ASPAYMENT" The last two words were rushed as the Mare foisted the clumsy furbody at the kin.

((Sorry for late reply. It took a while for me to scrounge up some feral furbodies)
