[imgleft]http://matope-swamp.com/images/abbacus/ ... uncert.png[/imgleft]The dusk of the late afternoon was settling in, a soft breeze blowing through the leaves of the canopy. A soft creek flowed between the trees like a lazy snake, gurgling a sweet melody to the stones that lined its bank. Lure You In was idly lapping around in one of the deeper parts of the creek, enjoying the feel of the fresh water running through her fur. It was about time to start the hunt, the animals of the forest always seemed more active at this time of day; those that were awake during the day scurrying frantically to return to their homes and nests, whilst those that came out at night were just waking up. All this combined together to make the perfect environment for her appetite.
As she climbed out of the creek and started to dry off, a particularly strong gust of wind brought a scent to her that she found most intriguing. Not a small animal like she had been smelling, but rather a deeper, muskier scent of buck, one that she hadnt smelt before. Her instincts began to torment her, driving her to her most basic and feral needs. She needed to lay her eyes upon this scent that stirred her in such a way, to look upon him and judge whether he was fit for breeding, or just another sad soul to fall to her sweet song.
She took off through the trees, quiet as a field mouse and as swift as a fox. It was not long before she came to a small grove where the scent was originating from. Hiding in some underbrush, she moved to where she had a clear view of her prey....

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft]The sun was setting later and later, he noted. Winter was, at last, releasing the swamp from her grip. Around him, the steady drip, drip, drip of melting frost and bits of snow echoed. Snow! Could you believe it? It really had been a cold winter, hadn't it? A long one, too. The Totoma buck shifted in his nest, wondering silently if his daughter would return soon. Stays Behind had been reluctant to leave, unsurprisingly, but well, Laughing Fox had been away for a while and their worry was shared between them. His icy daughter had insisted he stay, no need for him to travel in such weather.
And so, here he was. He chuffed irritably. He wasn't old by any stretch of the word. And his knee only acted up occasionally, nothing to worry about, surely--
It was then that the wind shifted its position and a new scent caught his attention. His ears pricked up and for a moment, he shivered. He felt eyes, hungry eyes upon him. Shaking it off, Yellow Belly raised his head and turned to look in the direction of the female.
"Hello?" He called out.

[imgleft]http://matope-swamp.com/images/abbacus/ ... uncert.png[/imgleft] Lure was unsure how to proceed when presented with the buck in front of her. On one hand, his coat and colors were intriguing, much brighter than her own, not very good for hiding away, out of sight of prey. On the other, however, the colors reminded her of the way river of magma might wander, lazily, across a shelf of mountain ice. Alas, however, at the calling of him, she realized she was not going to be able to surprise him; Had the winds shifted enough to carry her scent to him? She could have sworn she was down wind of him; and without surprise, she had not dare to attack a Totoma. Their wide shoulders and thick skull make it difficult to win a fight without some way to gain an advantage.
"What shall she do now?" she says to herself under her breath. "Why not, maybe he can entertain her in another way". She had just hunted the night prior and was still in the process of working her way through the small creatures she had collected, she didn't have a need for much more food.
Deciding the night might be better spent in the company of creatures she hadn't tasted the blood of, she abandons her hiding spot and walks into the open, revealing herself in the waning sun light.
"Hello Totoma, might She-Who-stalks-The-Shadows learn what he calls himself?", she asks of of him, staring at him through her left eye, wary of approaching too close, ready to dodge away from the infamous charging rush of the Totoma fighters. She had fought a few before, and they all fought the same, easy enough to predict, dangerous if she were unable to deflect. Like this she paced, in a circle, around the Totoma, as she awaited his response.
