As Stalking Bear, along with the others from the contest, are based on Five Nights at Freddys I had to think of something that was appropriate both for Freddy and for the Totoma. His personality is in the contest thread but this is how his name came to be.
As a group, Stalking Bear and his friends all suffered horrid abuses at a young age and were pretty much left to their own devices. Therefore out of neglect the Totoma was never afforded an opportunity to commit an act of bravery or valor until he met his friends. As each of these characters experience a terrible shift in personality come nightfall they can often be spotted lurking through the darkness looking for victims to terrorize and traumatize.
One such evening found the group in a dangerous predicament. As they were on the trail of a kin the group was surprised by a large, ill-tempered bear which, having been startled by their silent approach, rose up in rage with the intention of removing the perceived threat permanently. The Totoma, true to his given name, had been stalking/lingering behind and having spotted the bear before the others he quickly reacted. In order to protect his fellows he charged the creature and rammed the bear with all of his strength, sending it flying into a tree where it was knocked unconscious which allowed them all to escape and continue their hunt unscathed. From that day forward he was known as 'Stalking Bear'.
