Entry: "The silliest fish I've ever seen? Oh, easily this ridiculous pufferfish I saw by the shore. It was a tiny little thing but it kept inflating itself to look scary. I actually felt kind of bad for it- it can't be good for them to inflate like that, and this little guy was just doing it over and over. I tried to ignore it, because I figured that was the only way to communicate that I wasn't a threat; but unfortunately when I took my eye off of it, one of my lizards darted forwards and tried to eat it. And then I had to wrestle it out of her mouth because I've heard that pufferfish are poisonous. You know, if you'd like, I have a friend who's really good at fishing. I can get some ideas from her about where to go, and then we could... go fishing together? Sometime? You know, as an activity that two kin who want to get to know each other more do together?"

Capable flops down before the ancient zikwa in a long suffering kind of a way, in a manner that suggests she’s been WAITING for someone to ask this.

“So Sea of Tears has this fishing contest, right? She does it every year, people fish in a pond for her— I think she has a really big family— anyway, something in there KISSED me. TWICE. I know! What kind of fish wants a kiss! No kind I know that’s for sure. And then over at the Stump- you know, the stump- I gave it a pebble and it gave me… well I think it was a fish, Tricks says it was. No, I don’t know where a stump gets a mutant fish either. What a way to spend a pebble! It was so gross- it had like extra eyes and stuff. Super weird. Honestly. The winter market is overflowing with weird fish I’m telling you.”

"I think," Sleepy Time mused, "the silliest fish I ever saw was something that happened the other day, you see, when I was out wandering, as one does, and I was looking for the perfect sleeping spot, and it was a little hard because there are just too many variables to find the perfect place, and I was quite determined, and - "

While he was talking, a tanuki was trying to gnaw at one of his legs, and he was tipped precariously over in a vague attempt at getting away. He looked more like he was reenacting a tree whose roots were coming out of the ground and was now about to fall over.

" - and while I was looking, I came across a little puddle, and in the puddle there was a fish with these big, round, horribly fleshy lips, it was looking at me like it wanted to eat me and I said, well, I said not today, because I still haven't found the best napping spot, and so I kept going, but it kept watching me and now I think it watches me when I sleep."

He finished all of this with a nod as though that was a completely normal occurrence. Then he tipped over in a tangle of limbs and a squawk as the tanuki's teeth finally sank in.

Entry:The Ancient Zikwa are curious about the silliest fish the kin of the Swamp have seen. Tell them about it!

"It ate dead things. Well, given its girth, it wasn't too picky on what it feasted on. I know that salmon swim upstream to breed and lay their eggs and that some begin to rot before they are dead. Like you'll be walking around the bend and smell the telltale rotten stench of a fertile breeding ground of salmon and you'll see some twitching with a film of mold on them. Poor fish! But this silly fish ATE THOSE. Somehow they did not mind the smell while we all stayed away. And then there were the dance moves of elation. After each seemingly delicious meal, it would dance. So not only did it eat other fish, dead ones at that, it also had horrible dance moves and an even more offensive singing voice. I'm not sure which was more egregious- the fish's lack of rhythm or taste in food.
