"So, there I was," said Sleepy Time, in what was clearly meant to be an ominous sounding voice but was instead coming across as a little shrill, "minding my own business, you see, I was just trying to take a nap, as one does, and I was on the edge of a forest, right near a particularly unpleasant patch of swamp. It smelled quite foul, and I was wrinkling my nose so much because it was just so bad, and, well, I usually nap elsewhere, but there was a bear where I normally go, and I've not had to deal with one of those in a while, and - "
There was an intermission where Sleepy Time continued discussing the logistics of dozing with a bear nearby and got wholly off track, forgetting entirely the original purpose of the story.
" - and then I said - I said, well I haven't gotten very far and I shouldn't have to go back in there, because there was too much honey, you see, and - oh, wait - were there crocodiles? I suppose I should get back to those."
A long pause followed this, Sleepy Time staring off into space. He may or may not have dozed off with his eyes open. A second later, he jerked back awake and finished with, "Well, I got bit by a crocodile for stepping on it even though it was a rather silly accident, and completely unfair, but there you have it."

"So this one time, while I was away from the Cres on a trade run with another tribe, I found myself wandering through what should have been familiar land." He scoffed softly. "Should have been. I'd walked that same path many times before, I knew it well."
His tail flicked with remembered annoyance. "This time was different. It'd been raining for days. I knew the water was up, just not how bad it'd gotten, I guess. The path was gone. It looked like a lake had come through and swallowed it all up.
"Thankfully it was shallow enough in most places I could walk through it, but there was lots and other things floating all over.
"Other things included resting caimen," he chuckled, though there wasn't much humor in it. "Almost got snapped. A few times."
