Explanation: Junonias are one of the symbols of Sanibel Island, my favorite place in the world. They're a shorthand representation of everything I love about the island- the way it's still mostly wild, the way the people there have to live in harmony with nature whether they want to or not, and the way that life slows down when you're on-island. It's just a little tan shell with brown spots, but it means so much more.
