Hemlock had much better luck this time in the form of a small log. She hoisted it on her back and continued looking for more.

Oh how Hemlock wanted to laugh. Today would be a day for manual labor. She found another large log and dragged it while balancing the previous one on the small of her back.

Her lucky streak was shortlived. She found only a wet log. It would have been her third had fortune found her instead.

The day got crummier and worse. She stepped in a puddle and lost a log. One step forward, two steps back. Hemlock grumbled.

Hemlock found small twigs early on in her journey and fastened them in a broad leaf around her neck. So far, so good of a start.

She should have really thought about this more. She found a large log but as she was alone, she could not carry it back. She even tried to get her three dogs to help her but they were more interested in catching flies it seemed.

Hemlock fared better when she crossed the river. She found a small log, but of course it meant she had to carry it back through the river. Oh no.

She came across more tiny twigs and branches and added to her collection. These small kindle would be best for roasting things, too

Finally! A large log she could carry back. And she found an alternate path back to the festival that did not require crossing the river. That would have ended in a lot more wet wood she imagined.

On her journey back to the festival, Hemlock came across more twigs and smiled. She was so close to finishing.

With one more plentiful raid of nearby twigs, she smiled. She was done and made her way back to the festival, a spring in her step for being so helpful. She contributed. Yay

Silhouette jumbled out of the fray that was the party and sought solace. Might as kill two birds with one stone, she mused. Traipsing this way and that, drunk on the drumming music, she spied the first log to cross her sight of vision. Overjoyed, she scooped it up in her maw and quickly ventured back, abandoning her backtracking in favor of a new scenery. Unfortunately, a large puddle welcomes her instead and she loses her new found kindling.

Her spirits were doing a quick song and dance; she spied a large log. Overjoyed she skipped to it with much gusto only to realize it was too large. It was a reverse fortune mirage. Dejected, her steps faltered slightly before her reserve kicked in. She was going to accomplish something dangit.
