"The Heads Will Roll... The Heads Will Roll... The HEadS WiLl rOLL... tHe HeAdS wIlL rOlL...."
He watched them rolling and laughed. Rolling, Rolling, Rolling down the hill. Tens, Hundreds, Thousands, Millions. Rolling. Rolling. Rolling. As he chanted his eerie chant and laughed his eerie laugh.
"The Heads Will Roll... The Heads Will Roll... The HEadS WiLl rOLL... tHe HeAdS wIlL rOlL...."
And they did.
Soft As Down

The feather laden skies were heavy with downy plumes. Floating peacefully towards the swamp from the luminous clouds above. The sun hitting them just right so as to illuminate their edges in a fabulous golden glow. Covering the world all was silent, still, safe. The weight of sleep heavy, a sense of peace overtaking any fear, doubt, or worry. All was right. The world was Soft As Down, where once there was strife now there was only comfort.

Two kin argued heatedly, both seeing his truth as the only truth.
Their voices rang out in the swamp. Hurt, angry, blind.
It terrified the local creatures. Any passing kin seemed to pick up their pace.
Obviously disconcerted by the ongoing argument.
Her heart called to help them in this moment of anger and disconnect
And so she approached and listened to each argument in turn.
So embroiled were they, so deaf to one another, that they couldn't hear the truth
That their arguments, instead of disagreements, agreed with one another entirely
But they had started so poorly, and so differently, that instead of now hearing one another they quarreled

After the Flames Have Gone

The forest burned.
So fast. Sparing nothing as it roamed.
The fire moved on to the next meal.
Endless.
Ravenous.
Monstrous.
Then stillness.
No life.
After the Flames Have Gone. All that's left is silence and shadows.
Trees and ground charred beyond hope of rebirth.
Dark shadows of what they once were.
Hazy smoke choked the air, making the late evening sky appear a deeper, eerier, blue.
Everything cast into shades of dark blue and black.
The soft hint of embers haunting the earth. Glowing throughout.
Like gems from a dragon's hoard.
Perverse in their warmth. Beauty birthed of ruin.
She opened her eyes, materializing out of nothingness.
A hoof stepped from the void onto the scorched ground.
Where it landed ash exploded into the air.
Smoke poured from her nostrils with each breath. Golden gaze narrowed.
A pang of sorrow.
Her desire had overcome her control once more.
And others paid the price.
