[B] A Prism of Their Own Design (Life's Little Pleasures + Stalker Owl)

Stalker Owl padded sleekly through the swamp. The days had been getting hotter and hotter and the river was packed with sweltering faerie tribe members, but Stalker Owl knew of a secretish, out of the way stream that he could count on to get cool in the peace and quiet.

The horned owlcat bent to take a drink, then hopped up on some of the slick rocks to rest his pawpads.

This wasn't Life's usual haunt, but it was hot, and Life was keen to find somewhere a little more cool, a little more secluded, for Realm of Dreams to relax in. He didn't want her to over heat, and not just because she happened to be carrying his babies currently.

The problem was it seemed like everyone in the swamp had had the same idea as he had, and finding somewhere nice that checked all the right boxes was proving difficult. He ambled through a bit of underbrush, felt cool mud under his hooves, and turned in the direction the small stream seemed to be coming from. Hopeful it'd widen a bit further up.

Stalker Owl had just begun to curl up when he heard some noise through the brush. He cracked open one eye, stretching irritably. He could just disappear, but he wasn't keen on giving up the spot. He just wanted a little quiet to puzzle over a series of disputes, and a mysterious string of disappeared flowers.

"Hail," he braved instead. Perhaps it was someone he could settle and then send on their way. "Are you seeking something?" Stalker asked.

[Beejoux]

The buck stiffened at the voice, head tipping to seek out the source but it was owlcat was difficult to spot. "Somewhere cool for the mother of my babes to rest." He drew a pale hoof from the mud, frowning slightly at how much of it stuck. "Perhaps somewhere cleaner. You wouldn't happen to know where I might find somewhere like that?"

A beat, and another turn of his head, bright eyes narrowing as he searched the branches. "Ah, there you are."

Stalker Owl hopped down primly. This, at least, he was used to dealing with. Parents fussing and nesting.

"Oh. Expecting. Hmm. It depends. Are the two of you on your own?" Stalker Owl asked.

Realm of Dreams was a tribe-less wanderer, peddling fantasies and hallucinations. The vague and whimsical doe hadn't mentioned any other attachments herself, but seemed alright with putting a hold on her travels. She'd drifted after Life like an affectionate jelly, all flirting and light touches.

Life's ears twitched when he heard Really walking up behind him and he smiled, you he'd the upturned tip of his nose to her shoulder as she approached, before looking back to the owlcat.

"Yes, expecting, and yes, it's just the two of us." A chance meeting between two solo wanderers.

"If you keep wandering that way," Stalker Owl said, directing them with a nod of his head, "There's a tribe that enjoys guests. There should be a banquet and entertainment tonight, better if either of you can provide any entertainment of your own."

Realm seemed to hear this, and brightened. "Oh, a party," she said to Life, "let's go to the party. I do have gifts. What's your name?"

The owlcat flicked his tail, trying to look dignified and also hold back a sneeze, "I'm Stalker Owl," he said, a little peevishly. "And the two of you?"

The buck looked in the direction the owlcat had indicated in seeming consideration, but at Realm's urging he smiled, dipped his head in a nod. "Yes. Let's do that. That sounds nice.' What could be safer than being surrounded by a welcoming, friendly tribe?

"Hello, Stalker Owl." Life stood just a little taller, fluffy flicking to curl briefly around Realm's leg. "Life's Little Pleasures, and this is Realm of Dreams. It's nice to meet you."

"Well-met the pair of you. Well! I suppose you'll be wanting a blessing before you go!" Stalker Owl said, voice clipped, although he was secretly pleased at so easily getting rid of both of them. He knew sometimes expecting couples sought out the blessing of those like himself who had been visited by the MotherFather. If it actually helped the pregnancy or was only superstition, who was to say?

"Hmmph," he said, judging the pair of them, "Don't party too much in your condition. But, have a happy and easy birth." He considered them a little more. In moments like this, he felt something like instinct course through him. Was it only his own voice?

"Your little ones should live colorful lives. Have a good time at the gathering." And flicking his tail, Stalker Owl jumped back up the rocks for a nap.

[Beejoux]

"Many thanks,." A blessing as well a party, well now they were just spoiled. Life grinned down at Realm, canting his head in the direction the owlcat had pointed them in. "Shall we?"

Before they left though, he looked back up at the rocks. "I hope you have a pleasant afternoon "
