[B] A New Feeling Entirely (Remember Death x Look-See)

Every strange feeling she'd ever gotten was about death. When it was coming. Where it was coming from. What it would need when it got there. These were things she knew, things she was comfortable with. Death was her destiny. But life? Remember Death was unsure.

The zikwa doe couldn't pinpoint what motivated her to venture out from The Grove those weeks ago. Was it her sister's young children scampering through the Gourdent Patch gleefully? Was it her experiences at the Winter Market? Was it the stress of trying to find the missing pieces of The Grove's circle? Any and all, she could not tell.

Remember Death ended up at a zikwa burrow known for casual gathering. A conversation struck up between her and a buck named Listen Carefully. One thing led to another and...

A new feeling. Life.

Now, she found herself wandering again. Remember Death wanted the young ones growing inside her to be whole, to live whole lives. Seeking out the guides of The Grove would be foolish, so she strayed deep into the Swamp. A Legendary kin, she'd been told, could bless her and the little lives growing inside of her. Now it was only a matter of finding one. Reaching a clearing within the dense forest, she paused, unsure of what to do. This clearing felt...right, though. She hated feeling so unsure. She thought she was better than this.

"Hello?" she called, her voice hitching in her throat. "I-I need help."

Winter was giving way to Spring and with that, the mornings came a lot earlier. It was so dang sunny these days and the legendary found herself preemptively underneath a pile of leaves should she wake underneath a glaring sun. Nights were when most movements happened and the parties really began. She wasn't alone though. Other similarly shaped and sized forms were with her in a pile of fur and too many limbs. She woke up leisurely and catnapped a bit until oncoming hooves announced the presence of another. Much too large to be a furry lynx or even a crawfish. She heard the call. This was her time to shine or something. Using all eight limbs, she pushed away the other bodies and underbrush to emerge. She was tugged back when something in her hand caught on the pile. Ah, she had forgotten about that. Giving it a good yank, the musty entrail whipped from one of her limbs to encircle the zikwa's foreleg. What a lucky catch! She chirped excitedly and waved at the other kin!

The rustling after her call summoned many different emotions within Remember Death. Was it a Legendary coming to her call? Was it a monster coming out to eat her, sensing her vulnerability? A gasp hitched and died in her throat.

When the wet tendril slapped around her ankle, the gasp hitched in her throat exploded out as a scream. Rearing up, Remember Death tried backing up. "No, please!" she cried.

The cry knocked away the last remnants of sleep. Perhaps Albatross had misjudged. She peered her short body back and looked up. Yep. This one was sightless. Well then. She patted its foreleg encouragingly with two tentacles before disengaging the entrail. It was the only polite thing to do. She stepped back and shifted to her Mare form.

She stared. What to do now. She coughed. "What's up?"

When the wet and squishy object leg her leg go instead of something eating her, Remember Death began to grow confused. It felt like there were no sounds around them, the birds and the frogs quiet. Watching. Had something else patted her leg? What was going on? The zikwa doe was trying to sort out her thoughts through her hammering heartbeat.

Something by her moved a little further away and began to rustle. Pinning her ears, Remember Death took a step back, even more unsure of what was in front of her. Moments later, the familiar smell of another kin wafted her direction from the location of the rustling. One ear flicked a bit, thoughts turning over in her mind, trying to sort out exactly what was happening. The other kin's words snapped her out of her concentration.

"Oh...are you, perhaps, one of the Legendary kin I've been told can do blessings for little ones?"

Out of context, that probably sounded ridiculous. She probably should have asked some experienced mothers before just trotting out into the Swamp to find some nebulous being she wasn't sure was real or purely legend.

"I'm sorry, I've never done this before," she added, ears now flicking down in embarrassment.
