Name Origin: She, like any good Totoma, has always enjoyed solving conflict quickly and with force - there was no disagreement too small for a little scuffle, in her opinion - no matter the size of her opponent. Because of this, the name "Strikes-First" was a teasing one for most of her life: even as a lamb she challenged those twice her size for a prime patch of grass or the best place to rest in. However, it wasn't until her herd began travelling south that she earned the name. A desperate band of totoma had kidnapped a lamb from her herd and blocked their passage, demanding a share of their dwindling resources for the lamb's return. But before anyone could react, she had charged forward and knocked one of the leaders out cold, allowing her herd a chance to overwhelm the other, rescue the lamb, and continue their journey.

His father was singing, as was his custom, to help ease the mothers difficult journey. He wanted to help, knew that he could be of some use, but he wasn't a singer like his father. He also was too rough, too much Toto to be useful in a delicate situation.
The night continued on and the mother had birthed her first lamb with a second on the way. He was amazed by the sight of it. So small. Fragile. Helpless. He felt a swell of pride and joy for the parents. For the herd. His keen eyes drifted across the many smiling faces surrounding until they landed on something out of place. There. In the darkness. A predatory shape slinked along the fringes, waiting for its chance to drag off a new lamb.
His brow furrowed and without a second thought he backed out of the circle and charged the rogue wolf. Chasing it away into the night. From that night forward he watched. He watched for predators while his father sang. To protect the young and those who needed him. Eventually they began to call him "Watches Over". A fitting name and one he was proud of.

@Tiarana Your Mettle is right here in the Official Pet Owner's List, second under Kismet's Mettle. From the file naming history, the cert for Kismet's Mettle came first, and Dogfight's Mettle came after and was labelled 'mettle-1.gif,' which is standard for duplicate pet names. Kismet's Mettle retained the name but was rehomed to a new owner, which is why the uncert file name for that particular Mettle is the new naming scheme. I hope that helps - please check the Owner's List first next time there's a potential issue, I try to keep the list as updated as possible. Thank you! - M
