[PRP] petals falling upon the snow (Tears x Any Means) [Fin]

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... nroses.gif[/imgleft]Soft gaze settled upon the ground, it was a strange sight to look at, as blood colored petals scattered themselves across the white, frozen ground. The temperatures had spiked for a few days and a rose bush had gone into bloom, sadly for it the weather took a turn and now the plant was suffering the consequences. Petal after petal fell upon the ground as the wind swirled around, it's cold leaving it's bitter mark upon everything it touched.

He just stood there watching them.

He wasn't entirely sure how long he had stood there until he realized his limbs were stiff and he gave himself a good shake to loosen up and get his circulation going again. "Poor thing." He muttered softly to himself as his gaze left the bush and turned towards the surrounding scenery. It looked desolate, barren of all life, minus his own presence. Letting out a sigh he walked towards a grove that would shield him from the wind.

[imgleft]http://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/image ... uncert.png[/imgleft] The wind was cold and biting, stronger than it had been when she'd left that day in search of some food. Food had been found, but her way back to where she was currently living, was not. She'd managed to get turned around.

There was a low snort from By Any Means Necessary as she lifted her head to sniff at the wind a curious scent reaching her though she couldn't place it, it was so faint. Still, it was a nice scent so that was something. She lowered her head to carefully pick her way along the hard to see path, glad for the covering of trees and such, even if they were mostly bare. It was still better than being in the open.

As he walked along the wind shifted and brought the scent of someone unfamiliar to him and he was curious to know who it belonged to. He hadn't been around someone else in a while it seemed and the aspect of perhaps having a conversation was alluring. He wondered if perhaps they were growing closer or getting further away and debating staying where he was.

However he figured to just venture forth and take a chance and it would seem that was the right way to think since he came into sight of a very pretty colored Zikwa with striking markings. She reminded him of Black Orchid and he felt a smile form on his lips, it almost felt weird.

When was the last time he had smiled?

"Hello." He called out softly, his voice carrying in the breeze.

As she got closer, she was sure she heard the sound of hooves on the ground, and she paused, ears flicking to get a good idea as to where they were coming from before she was forging on ahead, heedless of anything in her way.

The soft voice pulled her up short and she swished her tail a little as she took another step forward, now being a little more cautious in her movements, mostly so she wouldn't run into the other kin. "Hello!" Her own voice wasn't soft, it was bright and cheery really.

As the wind blew again, some of the petals pelted her on the hooves and legs and she bent her head down to sniff at one, a soft sneeze as one tried to go up her nose, and she shook her head to shoo it away, before she was back to trying to pin point where exactly that voice had come from.

Her voice lit up his eyes and as he watched he had to stifle a small laugh as one of the petals seemed to lodge itself in her nose or almost in her nose. Coming around from the bushes a bit more so he could see her better and she him he gave her a warm smile in welcome. "I see the petals are giving you problems." He jested lightly towards her.

As he came into view the wind swirled a few of them around him in a cyclone and he just watched her from where he stood. She really did remind him of an Orchid, it's what he wanted to call her, or bring to her. He felt the need to want to bring her black orchids. "I'm Tears Upon Roses, what is your name?" He asked her curious to know this does name.

She could hear the stilted laugh, and  had to admit that a petal trying to go up ones nose could be rather amusing. To anyone but the one trying to inhale the flora! Still she was far from mad really as she shook her head and blew out, glad the petal decided to float away as she turned her head toward the voice speaking to her.

"Just a bit, apparently it thought my nose made a good home." she moved toward him as he spoke, listening to his name. An interesting one. It evoked the feeling of sorrow and sadness, though not all tears were sad she knew, so perhaps more joy? It was a curious thought.

"By Any Means Necessary, which I know is a bit of a mouthful." she laughed again warmly. "So you're welcome to call me something easier." most called her Means, or Stubborn. It mattered little to her, it was easier in the end. "I'm not blocking your way through here am I?"

Had she been in any serious trouble from the petal he would have stepped in but seeing how it was a minor annoyance only he had remained where he stood. Listening as she spoke her name he gave a small nod, "It's not as long as you might think, mine is just as lengthy." He chuckled lightly. "Would you mind if I called you by a nickname?" He asked her, curious to know if that would be open to the idea, since he wanted to call her Orchid. She reminded him of them so much.

"Oh, not at all! I was honestly just wandering around, with no where in mind. I just couldn't resist this spot." His gaze danced towards the petals as they danced in the wind.

"A nickname?" a curious note from her. No one had ever asked her that before, or given her a nickname, so the idea of one, was curious, and interesting. "I don't think I'd have a problem with that though no. Why? What did you have in mind for one?"

She could feel the petals against her legs, the wind smelled sweet, and it blew his scent toward her, and so she came closer to him. "This is a nice spot, serene, and beautiful." well it smelled beautiful. Plenty of plants and flowers here, each offering their own, sweet scent.

"It's just something you go by, either a shorter version of your own name or something that you remind the person of, or even just something silly..." He didn't have much of a nickname himself, given he didn't particularly get out much. You have to have friends to get nicknames, though this was different somehow.

He pawed the ground for a moment, "I was thinking Orchid. You remind me of them...." A shy smile was on his features as he glanced her way for a moment  and then turned his attention to the falling flowers.

Smiling he stole a glance her way, he was happy she enjoyed this spot. "Do you have anywhere you must be off to?"

His explanation on what a nickname was brought a smile to her face. "Oh... that makes sense. Most call me Means...it's shorter, and easier than my full name after all." well it was.

Hearing the name he had in mind for her though, it made her head tip thoughtfully, and there a "Orchids...I've smelled those before, I like those. I like that nickname." oh she did, it was a very nice nickname, much like the smell of orchids were!

A shake of her head answered his question before she was speaking again. "Not really. I was just trying to find my way back to where I've been staying but..." she looked around, straining to make sense of the area they were in. "...I don't recall coming through here before. So I'm pretty sure I'm lost as far as that goes and just need to find somewhere else to stay. It's not the first time." a soft laugh given as she said that, unbothered by this fact. She didn't tend to have anything of importance that would bother her to leave behind when she inevitably had to find somewhere else to live.

"I can see why they might call you Means then." Giving a small nod of his head he flicked his tail behind him as he listened to her speak. "I'm glad you approve of it." Smiling warmly he was quite pleased she found it so delightful.

"I can perhaps try to help you find your way home and escort you? It wouldn't be any trouble at all." He offered.

"It really is easier than By Any Means Necessary, so it makes sense. Though at first it took a bit to realize others meant me" she gave a smile at how happy he seemed by the nickname he'd given.

The offer to be helped home, was a welcomed one though and she stepped closer to him by the sound of his voice, brushing against him. "That would be nice, thank you. I really am lost..."

Happy to be of assistance to the doe he gladly led the way for them. "I'm just happy I could be of some service to you today. If you've been turned around long we could rest for the night if you like?" His face flushed a little bit at the thought of sleeping next to her, even if it was just as a temporary thing, at least his fur was dark so it wasn't very noticeable. "I know a little spot around here where we could be safe from the elements if you want?" It was starting to get rather late anyway and picking up in the morning would be best in the end.

"I really have. It's a lot later than it was when I set out today to find food, and well, I don't know how long I've been wandering... or even where I am." she didn't really seem too bothered at least. "Rest could be very nice, and then tomorrow, I think I just find somewhere new to call home since I think I lost my old one." she leaned against him a little more. "Lead the way to your little spot, and we can settle and rest for the night...maybe get to know one another a little better...?" a very open ended suggestion she was aware. It was meant to be.
