[Bless] A Tough Day for A New Mom (Thanks For The Memories & Tidal Terror)

[imgleft]https://matope-swamp.com/images/phoenix ... uncert.png[/imgleft] Thanks for the Memories just had a tough day. It's cold, her favorite berries aren't as plentiful as they used to be due to the snow. And because of her belly, she doesn't have as much stamina to hunt for food.

It just makes her frustrated and being hungry doesn't help matters. She decided to find a tree with some shade to lie down under so at least she won't be lying down in the snow.

The cold season seemed to officially be in full swing, if the dusting of snow across the swamp was anything to go by. Tidal Terror could be found plodding about, pleased as punch. She felt very in her element, enjoying the snow gathering on her flanks.

The totoma didn't even skip a beat in her pace upon finding a doe also out in the weather, although the kimeti did not seem anywhere as good a mood from the looks of things.

"Hail and well-met!" she greeted. "What brings you out in such weather?" It was hard not to ask, considering the obvious belly situation going on with the doe she was speaking to.

Thanks looks over to the Totoma mare, who seemed to practically be skipping in the snow, with a tired frown on her face.

She was happy to see her, just tired and hungry. "Greetings, I'm out looking for something to eat. But I'm a bit tired from the search. It's a bit hard to find food with the weather being what it is." She vaguely gestures with her nose to the ground.
"And in my condition.." she gestures to herself, specifically her belly.

Tidal Terror nodded. "Food runs scarce in the cold! But some plants are hardy and will have berries... There might also be some toads around getting all curled up for the hibernating times, if you know where to look! Shall I find something for you, or would you like to come along so you will know where to look in future days?"

It was all the same to her; if she could help, she was happy.

"If you could show me where to look, that would be great." Thanks smiles a bit. Knowing how to look for food in snow would be a good skill to have. Even better to have an experienced kin to show her how. She had heard that Totoma were originally from a place where lots of snow was common. Getting up from where she was lying down. "I'm ready to follow, lead the way."

"Then let us go!" Tidal Terror boomed, and began to pad off. She kept her pace slow to start, and wanted to adjust to fit how fast Thanks for the Memories wished to go.

The totoma looked about. "There should be something nearby... The brighter berries will stand out more in the snow, and usually will be picked first. But sometimes...if you're lucky..."

She stayed vigilant for what looked to be a barren winter berry bush. "They may have berries near the bottom, where no one has thought to look. Shall we see?"

After following Tidal Terror for a little while, with Tidal Terror slowing down every time Thanks started to slow down, they came to some barren looking bushes.

Tidal Terror: "They may have berries near the bottom, where no one has thought to look. Shall we see?"

"Alright." And Thanks For The Memories walked up to the bush and started to use her hoof to move some of the snow away from the bush to get a better look.

Tidal Terror continued to observe, but tried not to hover. "If there are any to be found, they will show up soon! Make sure they are bright berries; if they are dull, they likely are beginning to rot."

She contemplated searching another bush in the meantime to demonstrate. And it may make the chore end sooner; she didn't want to torture the pregnant doe with arduous foraging when she should be resting as much as possible.

Thanks For The Memories pulled away enough snow to be able to look underneath the bush to reveal...a couple clutches of bright berries! There were some duller berries slightly higher but there were some good berries still.

"Thank you so much for the help. I wouldn't have known to check the lower parts of the bushes if it weren't for you." A look of shocked realization crosses her face. "Oh! I never asked for your name or really introduced myself. I'm so sorry for my rudeness! I'm Thanks For The Memories, but you can call me Mori or Memory, if you'd like. And you?"

@Gl!tch~ Sorry for the really late reply. I got busy and then needed to think on how to write it out.

She nodded. "You are very welcome. I hope that will help see you through the winter a bit easier!"

The totoma felt good, sharing practical knowledge so effectively. "I am Tidal Terror. Well-met! This has been a very pleasant time." She could feel that it was about time to go. Her hooves were starting to call her elsewhere.

She thought for a moment, realizing she missed something important. "May your children be perseverant!" the totoma blessed before she might forget.
