[Solo] Favorite Childhood Object (Follow the Voices)

Post by Lirilei »

Spoiler
When your kin was young, they had one particular trinket that caused them great joy -- either one day, or over a period of long time. What was this object? Why was it special? How did they come across it?
Image It was one of another nights settled close to Inspiring Song as they traveled together, and as they snuggled close after a light meal they found themselves talking quietly as they waited for sleep to find them. Song had asked him if he had a favorite thing growing up and he got to thinking about it a moment before he gave a low, sheepish laugh.

"Yeah...remember I'm blind and rely on other senses. One of the providers at home, they had brought in a rabbit, and some of the fur managed to make it's way to me. At first it smelled a little funny to me, because of the blood still on it, but one of the Mothers, they wiped it on some grass and gave it back and I loved it. I would carry it around with me oh so carefully so I didn't drool on it, and I'd always set it in a particular spot when it was time to eat so I wouldn't have to worry about anything dripping on it and messing it up.

I liked to lay my head on it and go to sleep, sort of like I lay my head on you now to sleep. It was softer, but you're warmer, plus I can hear you breathing and your heart so clearly. It's easier to fall asleep with my head resting on you than that piece of rabbit fur. I had it a long time but it was eventually taken from me, because despite how well I'd tried to take care of it, of course it got laid in mud, or other things, and it was starting to smell, and attract flies and other pests. I was devastated for awhile, but I got past it before too long."

He grew quiet a moment, before he let out a soft laugh. "At least now, you can help me make sure we're not going to lay in mud, or worse...and we can both bathe easily enough if we do get dirty. And I don't have to worry about you being taken away from me either." it was how he felt about it all in the end. The fur had been nice, but Song was so much nicer.
