Bargain struck once more, she smiled. She was elated. She wasn't quite sure what the hoopla regarding blessings were and her naps were always interrupted by inquisitive kin, but Albatross was slowly getting used to the idea of blessings. They were mutually beneficial for both parties after all. And it was a fantastic way to offload her belongings. Austerity was a way of life not familiar to her but she liked to travel light and had enough of a menagerie following her.
"Your brood will grow up strong and plentiful. Their line will populate the swamp and their grace and beauty ever more. They will be wise hunters and winters will be kind to them and their growing intellect."
Blessing done, she turned to the nearby bushes, shooing what hid there. The leaves rustled and a grunt could be heard. Dirt piled up near the edge but nothing came out. Albatross stuck her head deeper into the bush, a yelp was heard, and out came the beak first.
"This will be your new charge. This is the exchange of service. You got your blessing and now you have a new friend, fiend, whatever."
Shifting into her water dwelling form, she sashayed across the swamp to her next destination. The swamp one less furbody for now, she was bound to find more horrors and delights to unleash onto the swamp. For now, she had blessed silence and can perhaps make her own snow sculpture. Maybe a giant pecker or something equally awful.
