[B] Just a nibble (Foam Flux x Breach)

It started out with disbelief. Foam Flux could not believe his eyes. There, right in front and just a few steps away was his dream. He loved mushrooms but never had he seen one so large. Sure there were some humongous pitcher plants, but those were beguiling and false mushroom fiends. He stayed away from those. And when the mushroom moved, a gushing fountain of euphoria sprang forth from somewhere deep inside of him. He couldn't believe it.

And the rest was full of good times and memories. So much that he wanted it to never end and thus he was out scouring the shore for a legendary. He had heard that a few recent ones liked to swim.

It was dream-like, sinking down beneath the waves and continuing further down than she'd ever reached before. The darkness was immense and the new sights, she wasn't sure she would ever come up for air if she didn't need to breathe. A small price for such wonder.

She broke the surface with ease, letting out a keening wail of excitement, and began to swim towards the shore. It was as the surf broke upon her back that she saw there was someone on the beach. There was a tiny lapse, where she forgot that she was more than this, and may have whined. Just a little.

The whale shark hefted itself up into the air, floating above the sea water, and slowly inched its way closer to the buck.

Foam Flux rubbed his eyes against his front forelegs, unable to believe once again his eyes. That a sea creature would willingly come out of the water and float was miraculous. And it was floating towards him. It was not in his nature to not believe things in front of him, but he couldn't be this lucky right? And right on cue, his stomach gurgled in protest. It had been far too long since he last ate and he had spent hours looking for a Mare or Stag. Food could wait. He started to drool until logic kicked in. Things that glowed tend to come with teeth or means to protect themselves. Suddenly wary, he ran to hide behind a tree. What if that thing wanted to bite him!?

Flummoxed, the whale shark paused. What was he running from? She turned in a lazy circle but there were only waves and sea foam. Perhaps something had broken the surface? She dipped down, performing another lazy circle to look underneath the water. Again, she found nothing. The turtles wouldn't be this near to shore until sunset or sunrise. It was midday and the sharks would be out further, down deeper at this time.

Resurfacing, she shifted into a mare and walked out of the frothy ocean shore.

"What are you running from?" she called out, still confused and a little bit annoyed.

Not today, MotherFather! He had an agenda and had much to accomplish before he fell victim to the roaming sea critter that shifted and somehow spoke. He spoke before his mind registered what was happening.

"Eat something or somebody else! I have to find a Mare or Stag! It's very important--"

Oh.

He thunked his head against the tree he was hiding behind. He had heard the stories but dismissed them as malarkey. Admittedly he had never seen that sea creature before which added to the foreignness of it all. It seems that a Mare had found him.

He had already put his foot in his mouth so what's one more moment of idiocy? Pride could take a hike now that he had found the best mushroom.

"You're a legendary aren't you?"

Eat? Breach snorted, "the gentle ones don't even have teeth." Though, she supposed there was no reason for him to know that. They were still new and rare; it would take time before they were known, let alone well-known. She blew out a breath.

"Luckily for you, yes," she returned when he finally came to his senses. And then waited.

Foam Flux thunked his head against the tree he was hiding behind. Sometimes he just had to bash information in, and this time it was hide his mortification. He found just what he was looking for and the who was staring at him like an imbecile he felt he was. Blood rushed to his face and he thought furiously, wishing that the MotherFather had blessed him with quick wit and charm. Anything to survive this encounter with his dignity intact.

"Right. I am Foam Flux. I have a wonderful mate and I am looking for a blessing." That's the repeated speech he practiced. Except what came out was.

"Please help." With a squeak.

He winced.

"Hello, I am looking for a blessing for my soon to be clutch. We both love mushrooms and wish the swamp and everything for our brood."
