She liked to smile and laugh, and sometimes that hurt others. Trust wandered around and tore apart food with her sharp teeth, leaving things where they lay. She played funny games.

Now, she walked streamside, following paths of white flowers to see where they led her. Sometimes it was nowhere, and sometimes it was somewhere very fun. The humid air hung heavy. Trust glanced at the minnows in the stream that darted to and fro, eating the roots of stream plants. She wondered if she could eat roots and minnows, and stuck her face in the stream, trying to catch them in her mouth.

With a small splutter, she lifted her head again, water dripping from her nose. Trust panted heavily, laughing at the absurdity.
