Shines Gold is a unique Totoma when it comes to her family, born to a family of soft crystal Totoma with moonstones-tones and the odd gold fleck, it was rather shocking to the two moonstone parents when Shines Gold made her grand entrance into the world. As a nameless child, she and her family lived within a rather stormy blizzard-heavy area. As she grew up, they were always in some sort of planning-stage on how to get through the next blizzard. Not that it bothered the Totoma family, that was just what Totoma do. Endure. One evening, when one particularly strong blizzard hit and separated the family in fast-flying snow Shines Gold and her Totoma siblings where alone and easily taken out of the small family territory in confused meandering to get back to shelter.

Lost and quite a distance away, when the storm started to die down their parents looked frantically for their young. Digging each other out, Shines Gold and one of her brothers were the only two to break free from the snow that had trapped them into a make-shift den at first. As the mists broke in their small clearing and the sun shimmered, Shines Gold stood alone calling for their parents. Her unique-to-the-family coat shone bright and gold acting as a beacon in the blankets of new snow. Standing alone against the potential predator that could be out and about. In the end her gold coat was how their parents were reunited and able to help free their other filly and colts. Her parents rewarded her with the name Shines Gold, in Totoma tradition.
