[Bless] Such a treat! [Sunpost/Bitter End]

Sunspot was pregnant again. She was also hungry, a state of being that was nearly constant since her belly had begun to quicken. Today she felt especially round and heavy, her steps trundling and laboursome. Was this how mother had felt? There was certainly a difference between Acha and Totoma fathers.

The tribe was accommodating to her constant need for food but even their stocks were low after winter, and feeling slightly guilty about how much she’d been consuming lately, Sunspot had taken a walk to the nearest apricot trees.

Pleased to find they had begun to ripen, Sunspot stretched her neck out to the lowest branch, so very close to snatching a tasty treat.

Sunspot and the apricots weren't the only ones beginning to ripen, but one could say that this creature had already finished the process. Without warning, a large, furry coil clinging to the branch above started to unfurl, fluffy section by section, and dropped into Sunspot's field of view with purpose.

The creature held a single apricot fruit within its foremost paws (?), smiling (?) upside down with its beaky mouth.

The tribe that Sunspot had been spent her life in was a hive of activity, strange kin coming and going constantly, some with even stranger pets in tow. But she’d never seen anything quite like the creature that unfurled itself in her face.

“Aaah-ooooh!” Her startled cry blended into a more curious exhale.

It took her a long moment to decide what to do next.

But she’d been raised to be gracious (or maybe that was just an innate trait) and so she said ‘thank you’ and accepted the offered fruit as delicately as she could. “Mmmm,” she said, nodding as she crunched, and it was very tasty.

Why did this thing have so many little legs? Was it a type of caterpillar?

The being reached out to pet her head, but its limbs weren't long enough for a casual pet, and instead its entire body ended up vaguely slithering onto her neck, bridging the tree and Sunspot's placid body.

It then petted her head...and continued to curl around her, unsettling little toes intrusively drumming across her pelt. A full-bodied hug, from the giant furry creature. A rather tight one.

This was fine.

Clearly having chosen the freeze emergency response, Sunspot did not move an inch as the strange creature decided to curl itself around her neck, those many toes making her skin shiver. On the plus side, it was nice and warm and had patted her head. On the negative, well... she wasn’t entirely sure if it was trying to kill and eat her or not.

Sunspot finished swallowing her apricot and considered her situation. The weird furry caterpillar was heavy but she was a solid girl, and even with the extra weight in her belly, she didn’t feel too weighed down. The way it was hugging her tight was a little alarming but you couldn’t just presume something was going to constrict and eat you. That was rude.

So she sighed, relaxed and set her eyes on the next apricot.

The stiffening was familiar, welcome even - the little toes had squeezed upon the doe tensing, but after she had managed to finish her apricot, pregnant and all, Bitter End was starting to wonder whether she was really just a nice girl. Either that, or tremendously adaptable. She had to respect that, pregnant and all.

After a while, the giant fuzzy worm fell off and spread out in full impressive length under the shade of the tree, then turned into a lounging mare.

"I'm definitely blessing your kids with more self-preservation than yourself," she scolded, but a little wryly, "but is there anything else you'd like?"

“Ooooh hello,” Sunspot said, looking pleased at witnessing the transformation. “That makes sense!” Considering the various legendaries that frequented the tribe, perhaps she should have figured it out earlier.

She flushed lightly at the admonition, dragging her hoof through the dirt and dipping her head. But she answered with her tone light, “I only ever want them to be happy.” What else could a mother want?

Well, that and a belly full of apricots.

"May they understand the meaning of happiness," she declared, nodding lazily, "while staying very much alive. Enjoy your apricots."

She was then a long furby again, uprighting herself to march away like a furry centipede on all feet, momentarily tripping over an abandoned apricot pit as she scuttled away.

Sunspot beamed.

"Thank you so much," she called after the retreating Legendary. "I will!" Her sunshine smile remained as she addressed her unborn children instead, "did you hear that? You're going to have such a good life. I promise."

Her tummy rumbled in response.

"Oh yes! Apricots! Good idea!"

It was time to munch.

( @Maxx yay thank done! <3 )
