[B] Life springs anew. (Sky is New & Gloom)

Post by Lirilei »

Image Sky had decided a short walk was needed, while she could still get out and about to do so. The swamp was starting to thaw, to blossom with new life here and there, much as she knew she was going to be bringing new life to the swamp soon as well, and there was a small bounce in her step, despite how heavy she was. It was a good thing, not something that was going to slow her down for long. There was a pause near some green plants sprouting, she investigating them curiously before she continued her walk enjoying the crisp air and bright skies.

Bright, so bright. Like the sun, this acha's vibrant colors and pitter pattering woke Gloom from his mid-day slumber. And when she pushed her face into some greenery mid-prancing, it tugged on some of his spider threads. Gloom was fully awake now and scuttled down the tree trunk to eye level for the bright, pink and yellow thing. Belly swollen was she, Gloom was full of mirth in the way spiders could be. Delighted for sure at this surprise. Days went by before he saw any other kin and now back to back, does of a specific nature wandered to where he was. In the acha's view of sight, he waved his two fore legs at her in a greeting.

The large spider waving it's legs at her caught her by surprise and there was a low gasp from her. She'd never actually seen a spider before, though had heard of them, but she didn't know if them waving forelegs at a kin was normal behavior. She was going to tentatively guess however that no, no it was not normal behavior in the least.

Sky stood there indecisively a few moments, peering down at the spider, and there was a cautious "Hello....?" from her, confusion clear in her tone and on her face. Was she talking to a spider? Yes. Yes she was...

Chagrined and perhaps it was the very fine day and bright doe's presence, but Gloom entreated the pregnant doe to another round of waving and a small scuttling back and forth of a dance.  He greeted the doe once more, though a bit cheekily. Her confusion was apparent and it was a pleasant back and forth. Conversations that got nowhere were nice and always a welcome treat. For emphasis, Gloom jumped twice, 8 spry legs wiggling in the air before descending in a perfunctory manner. Hello, indeed!

She couldn't help the laugh that bubbled up watching the spider's antics! It was a truly surprising display from the creature, and she was entranced watching the jumps, the moving back and forth that seemed dance like and the leg waving. "What a funny little spider you are!" she laughed again warmly watching, a truly pleased feeling washing over her.

Sky felt tears in her eyes from her mirth and she shook her head in quiet amusement. "Ahh I do hope my kids can learn how to find joy from such a simple thing. Thank you little spider friend for a delightful treat!" it had been completely unexpected, and utterly wonderful and it made the already beautiful day just a little bit better for her, really. The story she'd have to tell later about the spider! Maybe someone else had more experience with them, and she'd find out this was normal.

It was good that she laughed, but wait!

He was a legendary and wanted to do ascended things like bless her brood. Laughing and smiling went a long way to eternal happiness, but a little help couldn't hurt. And she didn't fear his spider form. Scurrying as fast as he could down the log onto the ground, he caught up with her while shifting mid-way to his normal form. Spiders had more legs, but added length and a longer stride  trump quantity any day.

"Wait." He did not pant in exertion but it was a near thing. He paused and drew his form upright in an attempt to appear wise and sage. But he was a dancing spider not too long ago right? Sigh, catching the doe's attention once more, he attempted to make right of the misunderstanding from before.

"Your children will indeed find laughter in numerous situations. More importantly, they will be hardy, clever, and strong to face any challenges that come from laughing at everything. May you and them have many seasons of laughter ahead of you."

There. Succinct and helpful he hoped. The doe didn't know it was his second blessing, but he was getting the hang of it no matter how far and few between they were. The sun was at its zenith and patting himself on the back for a job well done, Gloom takes on his spider form once more to scurry up a new copse of trees. Dawn and dusk were the best times for catching anything and he settled in to patiently wait. Or snooze. Bright as ever, the kimeti doe was ahead on her journey to wherever it was she needed to go. And should he sleep, he hoped he would dream of better improve dance moves.
