The sharpness and deftness of hoof took her breath away. Blooded nodded back, drew in the breath she'd lost, and summoned all her strength for the most powerful stomp she could stomp because she was next to a very pretty doe.

Her hoof struck exactly at the belly, cracking a few little bird ribs on the way, and blood sprayed from the throat's slit with supreme force. It splattered the base of obelisk, and achieved the same aim, one supposed.

Blooded looked back hopefully at her.

Amazing. Simply breathtaking. The bird had been flattened into the dirt, once again one with the earth. The Obelisk would be nourished today.

This doe was a marvel. She was marvelous.

With ardency, she looked up into her eyes again - then lost her nerve, and modestly cast them down.

"Wonderfully done," she said, "the sacrifice is complete."

She couldn't help but smile at that, because she was praised by a pretty doe.

"Thank you for welcoming me into your ritual," she said, looking pleased at the pool of blood and the pile of feathers, "the Obelisk must have been sated today."

A little bubble of excitement arose within her, as she thought a hasty thought. She glanced up shyly at the doe once more.

"Yes," she said, "the Obelisk must have been. From your beautiful dance, and our sacrifice. Together. I would like to do so again."

Had she ever been so bold in her life? Even Thirst's sudden reappearance, its irritated whine as it swished around her hind legs, did not deter her this time.

"When the Obelisk needs sating again - shall we come together? I will bring a magnificent fowl."

She said her dance was beautiful. Being praised twice by a pretty doe brought forth a little joyful laugh, which she hurriedly silenced, and said earnestly:

"Please, let's do."
