Winter Market 2024
When winter comes, this year, the cold does not.
Kin gather in a familiar field to find that it is changed. Perhaps it was the strange events of last Winter Market, or perhaps it's merely that their world each year is different: more magical, less orderly, chaos introduced into the rules they've come to expect. Whatever it is, this year they find their Winter Market location balmy and near tropical. The waves that lash against the shore not too far away are an azure blue, the vibrant color of a tropical sea, a place where fish would delight. The sun above beats down heavy and hot but somehow not oppressive.
It's hot, but it's a plesent heat. The breeze cuts through and tousles fur, the water is cool and refreshing. This year seems like it's going to be a good one.
_
The winter market is happening again, and this year the world has turned tropical, a winter market in summer! Once again the usual kin selling wares, or running games, offering pebbles or taking them from the visitors who move through the clearing each day are infected by the energy of this warm setting, often turning booths cheery and light-hearted, in a summer theme. This year's smorgasbord of activity, friends greeting friends, raucous laughter, sometimes take on four-legged shapes, or two, or wings, identities blurred or confused or completely changed....

Your kin is pulled into a Holiday Movie! Here they embark on a romantic adventure that helps them rediscover themself and find the ONE!
To participate in this event, choose any one of your kin to write in a Holiday Movie.
It takes place in a town where it hasn't snowed in 20 years. It ends with a big snowstorm and a kiss.
Start by posting the form and rolling 8d50.
Match your rolls to the list in the thread to gather up 8 tropes to include in your Holiday Movie, and edit Movie Title and Movie Plot into your post!
Stories should be between at least 200 words, and are encouraged to stay under 500 words.
If you have repeats, please choose ANY PROMPT you'd like to replace the repeats. You also are welcome to slightly reskin your tropes if you'd like to make them more appropriate for a non-Christmas winter holiday!
You can write up to three stories; each will give a ticket toward the above prizes!
The event will end on December 11th at 11:59PM EST.

[Art] Beachside Decorations - Open through Dec 18!
Let's cover the beach in bright representations of ourselves!
This is an art contest that will run until through December 18th! In order to participate, all you need to do is design a Surfboard based on one of your kin! This can either be a board inspired by their look, matched to their colors, or something that represents how they would choose to decorate for themself.
To hepl you out, I've created a simple board template. You're also welcome to draw your own surfboard if you want to work from scratch. You can color these in an art program or you can print them out and fill them in with traditional media. Just please do not use any AI art tools to create your artwork. The point is to see your hand in the doing!
In the thread is a flat transparent png a link below to a layered PSD with separated lineart & fill!
Each entry will get one ticket toward the prizes above.
Boxes/bags won in this contest can either be kept or given away.
You can enter this event up to three times!
Once your art is completed, please submit it using the form in the thread: viewtopic.php?t=4028
