Constellation Creation [OPEN - Week 3 (Rolls 12/22)]
The festivities seem to be winding down for the day as the sun slowly sinks beyond the horizon. You notice, however, one kin standing alone on the beach, gazing up at the stars that begin to twinkle in the newly dark sky. You approach the kiokote who glances your way as he hears the shifting sands under your hooves.
"Aren't they amazing?" he asked with a toothy grin. "Best place to see the stars in the Swamp. No trees to block the view!" He turns back to stare at the sky, silent a few moments before speaking up once more. "Do you ever make shapes in the stars? I do. It's fun to make up stories about them too. Wanna give it a try?"

Welcome to Made of Stardust's Winter Market Booth!
The name of the game is constellation creation. Using the link provided below or by drawing your own on whatever app or traditional media you'd like to use, create a constellation and tell a story that goes with it. Is it a ramcat that chased a budgie up into the sky and got stuck? Is it a Totoma honored for their great, heroic deeds? Is it a mountain that belched fire so high into the sky that it burned its image among the stars? It's up to you and your imagination!Rules:
1. You may enter 1 time each week. One constellation will get you 1 ticket and a story will earn you 2 tickets, giving you a potential total of 3 tickets per week. You do not need to enter both! If you just want to enter a constellation, you can. Same goes for just a story.
2. Stories must be at least 100 words. They can be poems, prose, RP'd, or anything else in between. If your story reaches 500 words, you may use it as the storytelling requirement for ascension. Art is also accepted in lieu of writing. Art must be either lined and shaded or lined and colored, or fully painted.
3. I will roll 4 winners each week. If you do not win, your tickets will roll over to the next week and you may enter again, giving you more tickets the longer you participate. You may win 1 kin and 1 familiar from this booth.
4. This booth will roll winners every Sunday (starting 12/8) at 10 AM EST. Once winners have been rolled, you may begin to post for the next week.
Use this link to create a constellation! You can use a pre-made image or make one of your own.

Prize Pool
Each week, only 1 prize from each group may be won. Please put your top pick from each group in your form. Example: B1, A4, D2, C4. You must pick a prize from each group that you are eligible for, no sit-outs or re-rolls. Be sure to fill out if you've won a kin or a familiar previously if you decide to continue playing so I can make sure you are rolled in the proper groups. If you have already won a familiar and are playing for a kin, you do not need to fill out the preferences for a familiar. The same goes for if you've already won a kin and are just playing for the familiars.Add on: Since it has come up a few times, you are allowed to gift a prize you win to another player. That player, however, must consent to receiving the prize as it will make them ineligible to win another. If you give away a prize you win, you will also forfeit the tickets you have accumulated for that week/any preceding weeks because you were rolled. You are more than welcome to continue playing for more prizes, though!

Constellation Story: As the day melted into twilight, the sky transformed into a canvas of indigo and violet, sprinkled with shimmering stars. Grained Melon loved this time of day, it was when the world around him felt most magical.
One evening, Melon wandered to his favorite spot beside a silvery stream. The air was still. As he lifted his head to admire the sky, he noticed a unique constellation twinkling brightly among the others. It resembled a melon, round and full, its curves perfect against the backdrop of the night.
Intrigued, he wondered why such a shape would grace the heavens. As if conjured by the question itself, a soft voice echoed through the grove. It was the wise old owl who had watched over the forest for decades.
“Ah, young buck,” he hooted gently, gliding down to perch on a low branch. “You see the Melon Constellation? It has a history, a tale worth telling.”
Melon’s ears perked up in excitement. He settled down on a patch of soft grass, his eyes fixed on the owl as he began to weave a story.
“Long ago, before the stars were set in the sky, there lived a kind-hearted kin. He cultivated a vast garden that thrived with fruits of every kind, apples, peaches, berries, but his favorite was the melon. Each year, he nurtured his melons with tender love, hoping to share them with the creatures of the forest.
One summer, a terrible drought struck the land, and his garden began to wither. Day after day, he toiled under the scorching sun, but the melons were slow to grow. Seeing their plight, he sat down beneath the only tree left standing, a grand old oak, and wept for what he feared he might lose.
As night fell, the stars began to shimmer above him, and one star, brighter than the rest, descended to hear his sorrowful cries. It twinkled with compassion and revealed itself to be the Star of Hope.
‘Fear not, gentle gardener,’ the star said, the voice a soothing balm. ‘I will sprinkle the seeds of your love and care across the heavens, so that every night you may gaze upon them.’
With a flick of her ethereal tail, the star scattered the seeds of the ripening melons across the night sky. Those seeds took shape, forming the constellation you see now. Each star is a representation of the fruits of his labor, a symbol of his love and devotion to the earth and its creatures.
That night, with hope rekindled, he returned to his garden, now illuminated by the glow of the star's constellation. To his surprise, a gentle rain began to fall, nourishing the soil and reviving his beloved melons. The creatures of the forest rallied to help him, and together they harvested the sweetest, juiciest melons they had ever tasted.
From that day forth, every time the stars appeared in the night sky, he and the forest’s inhabitants looked up and remembered their bond, one of love, perseverance, and rejuvenation. And so it is said that the Melon Constellation is a reminder that even in the darkest times, hope can flourish like a ripe fruit ready to be savored.”
Whisp finished his tale, and Grained Melon was entranced. He gazed back up at the constellation, now filled with newfound meaning. In that moment, he understood that the melon in the sky was not just a shape, but a beacon of hope for all living creatures.

Constellation Story:
Real Big Fish’s eyes glowed bright as the stars as she pointed out a shape in the night sky. “You see that one? That constellation’s the one we call No-Horns up north. The Motherfather placed that Totoma there after a life of grueling hardship, to honor their sacrifices. Nobody knows if No-Horns was buck or doe, or if they ever earned a name in life, but what we do know is that they never developed horns; they were like a lamb their whole life, with minimal armor. It’s… not a death sentence, per se, although lambs like that often just don’t survive… but it might as well be one, because who you are, how you related to other Totoma? So much of it revolves around fighting. There’s the hunting, the wars, the fights for survival- but there’s also the ritual of the fight, the clash of horn on horn as two contenders throw themselves at each other. It’s a beautiful thing, a brave thing, to watch as the steam rises from heaving flanks, hearing the pounding of hooves and the bellows of the warriors… and No-Horns could never participate. They could never throw themselves into the fray, never fight it out amongst their peers… And the worst of it was, they weren’t shunned. They were pitied.
Nothing, nothing is worse than pity among the Totoma in the mountains. Pity is worse than scorn, because you have to do something to be scorned. As the story goes, the pity only infuriated No-Horns, as it would infuriate any Totoma, so they decided to prove themselves. They decided to do something so incredibly brave that they would earn an incredible name and take an honorable place in their herd. This is something all Totoma young go through, when we earn our names- we all want a name that's strong and incredible, something we can be proud of. Something that doesn't just say who we are, but what we mean to others. Nothing is worse than being nameless, but nobody ever expected No-Horns to do anything to earn a name. Everybody expected them to die as simply Totoma, or perhaps Totoma, Who Died Honorably- but they wanted more for themselves for that.
Some say that they took on a bear, a giant white beast with fire in its heart and ice in its claws. Others say they were more peaceful, leading their herd to new feeding grounds during a blizzard, when food was scarce. Still others say they laid down their life as a sacrifice to keep the young ones in their herd safe from a pack of wolves. I've even heard the story that they tamed a mighty eagle and used her to hunt, beast and bird moving as one.
Whatever they did, it was enough. It was enough to convince the Motherfather to lift them up, place them in the stars. Their name wasn't important, in the end. It was their heart, their burning star of a heart, that earned them a greater honor than any Totoma could strive for. No-Horns the constellation is our teternal a reminder that even the weakest by birth can have the strength of the heart and the conviction they need to be remembered forever. Nobody pities No-Horns today; they thank them as they navigate, letting the hornless one help guide them home.”

Constellation Story: Guardian of Souls looked up towards the sky and then at the faces that peered at her. Every star had a story, much like every soul had one. Some even believed that the stars above were souls, and that some constellations are the reincarnation of a kin in the heavens, however, only if they had lived a worthy life. Pointing a hoof towards the sky she smiled, it was a soft, warm expression. Her voice soft and tender as she spoke, yet carried easily across the space between them.
"You see that particular constellation above?" Shaking her head as answers were given she described it. "That one, there, it appears wing like, does it not?" Giving a few more points she began to see eyes widen and nods given. "It can be said, that when a soul in life does a great deed, their spirit passes on and becomes apart of the heavens above, becoming forever etched in the evening sky, a symbol for all to see. That one there is said to be Sun Caller. He was well known for his healing and protection, markings like the wings of a bird upon his sides. You could almost say he was bird like in his movements too. He would travel far and wide, offering his protection and his healing to those who needed it. It didn't matter who or what or where, he would make it a point to go to wherever he was called."
"One day someone needed his help, but they couldn't understand what was making them sick and he couldn't figure it out either. So he took it upon himself to eat, drink and do everything that the kin was partaking in and seeing if perhaps he began to develop the same symptoms or not. Slowly but surely he began to show the same symptoms as the sick kin. He recommended that the kin relocate to a new place in the meantime. He wanted to stay and see if there was a way for him to figure out a source of the illness. As it turned out, once the kin relocated they began to get healthy again and Sun Caller continued to grow sicker. One day, while sitting by the water, trying to figure out the cause he spotted a plant growing on the other side, it was sort of hidden but due to some fortunate circumstances, he was able to see it. Upon it's branches were dark berries and some of them seemed to be falling into the water. He uprooted the plant and found a few others hiding among the weeds. After removing them all other animals began to come back around and drink from the water again."
"This level of dedication followed him until the day he died. On that day the sun seemed to shine brighter than ever and when it's last bit of light died upon the horizon there was a new constellation in the sky above, and they seemed to resemble the markings that had been upon Sun Callers Back. And that is the story of that constellation right there. He was willing to sacrifice himself in order to help others, and while I wouldn't call that a good idea and I would strongly recommend against it, his deeds saved lives in the end and he will be forever honored for that."

Constellation Story: The Summer Butterfly
"It's going to be a good year coming!" Big and Bright announced happily. "How do I know? Can you see there?" The kio sat back and raised her hoof in the air, tracing the rough outline along the sky, connecting one star to the next.
"That's the the Summer Butterfly. I know its winter right now, but this star shape is is quite fortuitous! Much like the butterfly themselves who sleep in the white cocoon, they emerge in bright form! It's a bit like us right now. After the market is over, the world is going to get white and most of us will snuggle together tightly and wait for the warmer days to come. This year will be extra bountiful and the weather better because the butterfly has already emerged to guide us towards the better tomorrow."

Constellation Story: "Of course you know I know everything there is to know about stars," said Single Thought, with a luxurious flourish of his fluffy tail. "That's why so many of them are on my coat. Now you see...that one, up there, with the pointy ears? That's the, uhh--the Lynx constellation. And you might think, 'oh what a fluffy cat, how cute', and yes, they can be cute, but what they can also be? Trouble. Lynxes can show up with their big eyes and their big fluffy paws and their little noises, but then under all that cute they'll knock your pile of pebbles over, or eat one of your favorite birds! When you see a lynx, you know that trouble comes in tiny, fluffy packages."
"Is this about that bird you lost last year--" began Of Two Minds, dryly.
"No of course not," replied Single Thought, tossing his hair. "I'm just--providing a public service by warning everyone of the dangers. You never know when one of those mangy little things will strike."
"It's about the bird," Of Two Minds whispered lowly to a sibling.

Constellation Story: One night some time ago, Creates Life was out on a ridge. It was her favourite area to take it in all of the land and sky. Normally heights scared her but there was something about this place that made it all go away. Laying down a safe distance from the edge she looked up. They were not out yet but when they were... it would be worth the wait. Reds, yellows, oranges, purple-ish blue hues painted the sky and darkness was coming. A shiver crawled up her spine and Creates Life closed her eyes. The silence gave way to an array of bug sounds. Frowning at the sudden discomfort, the night seemed lighter than normal. Lifting her eyes to the sky, breath taken, and eyes wide. This was different. A pattern in the sky? A butterfly. Oh how beautiful and she turned around to show- no one. You would think after being alone for so long that she would stop doing this. A fluttering sound caused her to turn, "What was that?" It had come from above. In awe she watched as a blueish-white object head right for her, it was like the star from the pattern detached. From one blink to the next a creature was before her.
Closer and closer it came until it nudged her nose, head, and hair as if to say 'I am yours and you are mine.'
And that is how Creates Life met her forever familiar.

Constellation Story: Errant Thought smiled as he looked up at the night sky. It wasn't quiet per se - there were the sounds of other kin mulling about, which was soothing in its own way. It was a perfect night to share one of his favorite stories. His voice was on the quieter side as he began to speak. "Do you see those stars, over there, that look like a running kiokote? We call them He-who-runs."
"He-who-runs was once a kin, like you or I..." Errant began, his voice gentle, and his tone soft. "He was a handsome young foal, with his most distinguishing feature a shiny horn that was such a bright silver that it almost seemed to glow." he motioned at the trio of stars that very much resembled a spiral horn, much like the one the kio telling the story had, himself. "He was vain, and inclined to boast, but not without merit - he was strong and fast, and had never lost a race. He ate, slept, and breathed running - everything else came second to his ongoing desire to win." Looking around, Errant made eye contact with any kin who had stopped to listen. He loved listening to stories himself, but this was his first time trying to tell one, and he found himself a bit worried that he wasn't doing a particularly good job of it.
"He challenged anyone who would take him up on it - whether it be kin, or other creatures he came in contact without any concern for the time or place. And then one day, he saw a hawk zipping through the sky, he had to know if he could beat it. The hawk refused at first - how could a being tied to the ground hope to compete with a bird? But he was nothing if not persistent, and finally, after days of the kiokote's badgering, the hawk agreed to the race, to settle who was faster once and for all. The morning came all too soon, and and the whole herd turned out to see how this would go. As the sun appeared over the horizon, the two were off - in moments, they were almost gone from view, but in a direction that was...unexpected. They were heading straight for a canyon, one with sides so steep that to attempt climbing down from this side meant almost certain death. Surely he would concede rather than attempting something so reckless...?"
"But only the hawk reappeared some time later, circling overhead twice before disappearing from their sight once more. Worried, they rushed over to the canyon to see what had happened, but all that brought about was more questions."
"His hoof prints went to the edge of the canyon, but there was no sign of him on the ground below, as if he had vanished completely. But to everyone's surprise, the following night, a new constellation appeared in the sky - one that looked familiar, to those who knew him. Perhaps the motherfather chose to reward his singlemindedness by allowing him to run across the sky for eternity."

Constellation Story: Worlds Within Worlds gathered up her spirited children and settled in comfortably beside the sleeping form of their father. It was cozy there, protected them from the rain and wind, but they could still see a wide swath of starry sky over the ocean.
"You see that really bright star there? It's got the smaller ones around it, and another bright one a little lower." She gestured with her nose. "That's the fish that swims it's way through the vast sea of the night sky. It's a guide, helping lost souls to find their way home with it's guiding lights. Peacefully swimming through currents of twinkling stars.
Sunset Swell shifted to lay across her mother's legs, head canted to look up at the stars, searching for the fish the older doe was talking about. "Is it that one, there?" She asked, tilting her head to point her nose up towards a cluster of stars.
"Yes, my sweet. That one. If you're ever lost, you need only follow the bright tip of it's tail, and it will lead you home."

Constellation Story:
Waveswept seemed to flow as they walked, drifting along to some invisible current. Even when they finally stood still, the tendrils that followed behind them still moved gently, swaying back and forth.
“There are many mysteries in the ocean but none are more strange than the jellyfish,” said the Zikwa, their smile coy. “They drift seemingly aimlessly, without purpose. Some sting and others don’t. Some are plain and others exist in beautiful colours. Others even float across the land, following kin companions as if there was ever a thought in their head.”
Their gaze drifted upwards, to the starry sky. “And some, reach the stars.” Their nose traced a pattern, following a line only they could see. A constellation emerging among the scattered lights.
“Long ago, when the sea was old and the land was new, the jellyfish began to share a single desire. Something deep inside them called them out of the water they had called home; so they floated, out of the sea and into the swamp. But naturally jellyfish drift and there was one large one who followed the call and, well, they got lost.”
The Zikwa chuckled.
“Instead of forwards, they kept going up. And up. And up. And up.
Until they landed among the stars, to drift in a sea of darkness far, far above. And they’re still up there. If you look carefully, you can see them, pulled along by the night forever more.”

Constellation Story: With the winter months bringing in longer nights, Sun-Cursed was happy to have more time to spend with Smoldering Ember. It was during one of these winding-down walks through the mangroves that the acha looked up and remarked "Oh it's the three!" She gestured to a collection of stars before identifying each one.
"I heard that these three constellations were once kin who were very dear friends when they were young. But because they were different kinds of kin, they couldn't be with each other as often as they liked once they grew up. It's usually just two of them at any given time. Either Balance and Peace, or Balance and Light. But the three promised each other they would always come together again, one way or another."
She leaned against the kimeti's broad frame for warmth, "Only after a lot of hardships and effort and time are the three able to meet."

Constellation Story: Picture an ancient kin, moving quietly through the brush, hunting for prey to feed it and its children for the day. It has seen many creatures that call the region home. In fact, it has fed on many of said creatures. Then it breaches brush cover into a small break in the trees only to see this furry abomination.
It is small. Its body wrapped in short, bright fur. Its arms and legs too short to efficiently carry it anywhere with sufficient speed, climb any surface to give it height, or manipulate anything to its advantage. Its eyes are far apart and looking in different directions. It takes seconds before the creature even registers that the kin is in its vicinity.
The kin approaches it slowly, careful in case it has some hidden danger or ferocity concealed by its... abject pitifulness. It gets close enough to stand above it, closely observing ots unfocused eyes and drooling mouth. Surely this is some sort of abomination. Some mistake of nature.
And then the furbody screams. A bloodcurdling primal noise that sends uncontrollable shaking down the kin's body, causing it to run away at top speed.
This is how primitive kin discovered the first Furbody.
