The past few days had been interesting for Starving. An impending clutch was on its way, marking her first time as a mother. The doe wasn't one to worry about such things before now, but with new life on the horizon she felt a maternal duty settle upon her shoulders. She wanted to be sure her children would be well looked after long after they left her care and that of the other doe.
Starving knew of Legendary kin. She'd never met any, but she had heard stories, been told tales from other kin that had searched for one to bless their clutch. They had all come across them in different ways as well, some stumbling upon them by chance, others seeking them out, others still being approached by the mare or stag. Starving wasn't one to sit around and wait for something to cross her path, though. Instead, she set out to hunt.
Pushing through the undergrowth of the Swamp, she kept her eyes open, watchful of any creature that moved. They often times appeared as things that weren't kin - birds, small fuzzy critters, imposing feathered serpents - so she kept her guard up, ready to assess anything she could find.

A tortoise meandered in, slow on its stocky legs. It stopped and looked up at the doe. It was chewing on a leaf, as if in contemplation.
The tortoise, which was definitely not a legendary with glowing red eyes or anything like that, thought very turtle-y thoughts such as, This kimeti looks rather skinny. Is she eating enough? I should catch something for her later. Fish is plentiful and filling this time of season.

There had been a few birds that Starving had stared at for a while before determining they were just normal birds - they didn't talk back to her when she spoke to them - but other than that, the animals of the Swamp were in short supply. Starving wondered if she'd have better luck back in her own home of the sea, but she hadn't traveled this far inland to give up so easily.
A tortoise was the next creature that crossed her path, its movements slow and ponderous. Its glowing eyes caught her attention and she stared at it for a bit before stepping towards it slowly.
"Hello, tortoise," she said, her voice holding all the allure and mystery it usually did. She didn't expect to lure a tortoise with words, but perhaps a Legendary kin in disguise would react. "What lovely eyes you have~"
