Ingredients:
Depending on your region of the world, your foundational sauté (mirepiox) is different. In the Philippines, we use 3 red onions, half a head of garlic, and 4 whole tomatoes. For foreign palates, I've been taught to switch to one big white onion, a big carrot, and about 3 stalks of celery--but if you use, this, add some minced garlic to the recipe.
Medium to Large shrimp, 1/2 kilo
Sweet Corn Kernels (we typically get this out of a can)
Tomato paste (150grams is good)
Coconut Milk (first press or canned is fine)
Arrowroot starch (Cornstarch is a perfectly acceptable substitute)
Salt and Pepper
Paprika
Dryed Thyme
Broth 1/2 Liter (Chicken or Vegetable, whatever suits your taste)

Chop finely and sauté your preference of mirepiox, paprika, and dried thyme in your soup pot (preferably able to contain 2 liters of content)
Add corn kernels
Sprinkle Arrowroot or Cornstarch until incorporated
Add tomato paste
Add broth
Simmer until soft and flavor meld

In other pan or pot, boil shrimp in water just until pink and cooked.
Let the shrimp cool.
Shell the shrimp. Cut off the whiskers of the heads.
Mix heads and shells into previous mix of broth and mirepoix.
Let simmer until depth of flavor is achieved. Adjust to taste with salt and pepper.
Put mixture in blender (or use one of those fancy hand immersion blenders while in the pot)
Add shrimp and coconut milk. Let simmer for no longer than 10 more minutes.

Garnish as you like.
Goes well with rice or toast bread.
Enjoy!
