Prompt: Ever since Two had wandered up to the surface, she had experienced a whole new world of sensation- including cold, which was unpleasant, and surface food, which was delightful. Her beloved snake-bond (who was also called Two; they were Two, they were One, they were inseparable) was always helping her find things to try, and he was her guide around this winter market. Together, they tried their luck at various games, many of which were... interesting, when you didn't have eyes and mostly communicated to the world through an enormous snake.

So was it any wonder that she found her way to the berry booth? A little explanation and she was gleefully flinging berries at... something. It didn't matter to her if she hit or not; what mattered was that she tried. Her snake let her know how she did with a gentle nudge; two of her tosses went wide, while the other three hit something. She smiled- she'd have to come back and try again!

The dainty zikwa flicked an ear towards the new voice, their head turning vaguely in that direction. "Oh, thank you!" Born wandered closer, thankfully managing to avoid the area in front of the launchers through luck alone. A sleek sand dog with warm, floral markings trotted along protectively at their side, dark eyes trained up on the kiokote Born was speaking to. "We thought it'd be fun."

One ear flicked back, trained on the sound of berries splatting against stone and leaves. Listening for the sounds of success. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

Prompt: It had been some time since Out of Time had made his way to the winter market. The kids had kept him and May busy for a while. But this time, there were no kids. No children in need of attention or support. Just some solo time. He let out a quiet sigh, a smile on his lips, and approached the berry booth.

So... just hitting a target. Well, hey. How hard could it be?

Meadow Larks ears flicked slightly at the sound of approaching hooves. Looking over she smiled towards the Zikwa and her familiar companion. Darling and Dearest hooted and shuffled their wings upon her back and she nodded, then realized the zik was eyeless.

"Ah, yes. Very much so. It was a very creative booth you've set up. Maybe next year I'll set up one of my own." Her voice was warm and light.

Will enjoyed Winter Market a lot; he was by nature quite a festive soul or rather one rooted in entertainment. People let their guard down at this time of year despite the looming starry skies and despite the early and oppressive darkness. They lost things; they lost significant things, like their offspring. It was almost too easy. He moved through the flitting darkness, shifting from one reality to another effortlessly and without too much upset. It didn't matter to him that sometimes there was no memory of where he'd been; his mind was lizard-like, not troubled by the strangeness of his surroundings.

He was I Always Come Back, and that was the anchor of his universe.

The next booth was bustling and looked like a game of accuracy and skill. He was not a marksman by any stretch of the imagination, rooted more in primal arts and craftsmanship. Still, he decided to indulge, because it was in the spirit of the thing. As kin flitted past him, he couldn't help but find his attention roving to those who were in a daydream, dazzled by the sights and sounds, and always he found it flitting over what he could gain, what he could prove.

Magic was everywhere here, and it felt almost close enough to touch.

He aimed, pulling back the slingshot and launching it forward. His first strike was a heart, and wasn't that appropriate? He laughed to himself but said nothing about why this amused him so.

The next was another heart, and he found it less funny this time. One Heart was a comedy; Two Hearts was a tragedy.

His next attempt was a critter, small and delicious; it pleased him. But his mind was no longer on the booth, the kin or the critter but those hearts. His next attempt failed, and he scolded himself for his sentimentality.

"One more," he said, more severe and grim than he intended to be.

Another critter was forfeited, but he was almost glad he hit no more hearts.

Another kin crept through the game's grounds, looking this way and that and seeming distracted. He was trying to keep track of someone else, but found himself thrust towards the slingshots.

He set his shoulders irritably.

He was quite busy. He set and fired three shots in fairly rapid succession towards the obvious Xs, but after being informed he was supposed to not aim for those he shot the heart and wolf instead. Normally he liked festival games, and in another time, another place, this would have been a combination of fun and research with his family and his best friend.

Now, he was mostly trying to prevent another catastrophe at his hooves.

He had wasted enough time already. He disappeared again quite quickly.

Totem couldn't help but giggle as she heard the splats against stone and thought about what it would feel like to try to aim at something she couldn't see or feel. Most definitely a challenge, and if there was one thing the tiny acha loved it was a good challenge. She bent down, snuffled around for the berries and then the sling ... And then she pulled --

Spring!

THWACK!

The first berry was launched. She listened as closely as she could and hoped to hear the distant sound of ripe fruit on rock. It hit with a wet thud and she squealed in delight.

"Did I hit a mark?? Which one?"

Getting confirmation that she'd hit the heart she did an exuberant little dance in front of the berries and hummed happily. She had done it! She'd really, really, done it! Who said blind(literally) luck was a bad thing???

Leaning down she went through the motions again-

Thunk! A critter marker was hit.

Twap! Another heart!

Again and again.

Finished with her five turns she wiggled, in a full motion from tail to nose, all of her excitement out and took a deep breath. Totem turned to Born of Death and Death Take Me and smiled her biggest smile.

"Thank you so much! This was a lot of fun! Happy market!!"

Pale ears flicked at the sound of the hooting, and a bemused smile pulled at the zikwa's maw. Owls, more than likely. They wondered if owls made for pleasant company, and imagined they probably did. Especially for those that were up at odd hours of the night.

At the compliment they straightened up proudly, ears perked and tail flicking down around their thin ankles. "Thank you. It was a group effort, really. I'm certain I wouldn't have been able to do it myself." Haven's tail waged, and Born tipped their head back the way they'd come. Death Take Me had been overseeing the range when Born had wandered off, but they had no way of knowing if he was still where they'd left him. "But my companion was kind enough to indulge my whims, and I'm very grateful to him."

Meadow Lark wasn't entirely sure how to respond, she didn't want to assume or insult. "I'm sure you would have fared better than you imagine you would." She looked down at the sand dog and smiled, "Your familiar is lovely, and your companion sounds like a delightful sort. Have you attempted the game yourself? I manged 4 out of the 5 shots, so I think I did well over all." A little excitement in her voice. "I haven't played any kind of game in a while and doing this booth was quite a thrill for me." She added.

Sure Shot loves this game! She watches as the other kin line up the slingshots with the berries and just knows she's going to have so much fun playing.

When is finally her turn, her first try is a success, landing dead center on the critter leaf. Her next shot lands on the heart and she laughs. "Shot in the heart!"

Again and again, she hits her marks. One more hit to the critter, and the last two on the heart.

She throws back her long hair and laughs and does a little victory dance. "This was so much fun!! I bet my brother would really like this game, too. If I find him I'll tell him about it!"

Sparkling Sunrise had followed the smell of berries and ended up at this booth. With each toss of the berries, she giggled with glee. Soon enough, a spot opened up and she trotted over, barely able to contain her excitement. Gently, she picked up the berry in her mouth and placed it in the sling. Closing one eye, like she'd seen others do to aim, she pulled back and yelped with surprise when she let go and the berry shot forward and splatted into the wall.

The berry splatted against a leaf with a little creature on it. The young totoma did a little victory dance that she actually managed to hit a leaf. After a few moments, she composed herself and grabbed another berry. The slap of the sling sounded warbled as she let it go too early, and the berry skidded across the ground. For a moment, she was tempted to run after it for a tiny snacks. The other berries soaring across the clearing deterred her, though. She definitely did not need to be painted with flying berries.

Three more berries landed on three more critter leaves. Sparkling Sunrise yelped with glee with each hit, and giggled as she set up each berry shot. This was a ton of fun! When all the berries were flung, she licked her lips. This booth had additional benefits! The berry taste in her mouth was a nice treat as she trotted off, giving up her spot for someone else to give the game a try.

Prompt: Sun-Cursed carefully made her way to this booth, keeping to the shade and squinting her eyes to take in as little of the sunlight as she could handle. Thankfully she'd heard the kin participating in it and used the sound to lead her towards it. The young acha lingered in the shadows for a bit to observe how one was supposed to play. It looked simple enough. Hit the leaves, with the berries right?

She got some berries and hoped for the best. There was something satisfying about the sound of the berry's flesh breaking upon the bark that she didn't feel the least bit bad that she missed a couple of the targets.

Her last shot went far to the right, nearly hitting another kin. Oops!

He made his way to the basket and launched the first one, hearing the voice of his love behind him telling him he missed. "Again!" he waited to be loaded up and tried it again, a cheer as he was told he'd hit something. "And again!" another attempt, and another hit! "Woohoo! Lets go again!" he danced around happy and mildly impatient, he was on a roll. "Third hit!? No way! Cool! Lets do the last attempt now!" and there he was hitting the fourth target. Four out of five and all without seeing? Yep, this was more than a little fun that was for sure.
