Fighting was never Spun From Starlight's thing. He was more a passiveplayer in activities, preferring to watch than to participate.

But something above this situation agitated him and he needed to burn off some emotions and energy. Maybe someone else nearby was feeling the same way as him?

He started looking around for any potential sparring partners that were available. It was very dark, so seeing another kin in the chaos would be difficult.

There was comfort in seeing another Zikwa. And this zikwa looked just as unsure. Opponent found, Light threw back her shoulders and did a poor imitation of a predator baring its teeth. She thanked the MotherFather her opponent was another zikwa. She didn't have much interactions with other kin types. The acha looked dainty. The kiokote were built for endurance running; she shuddered in horror. Eww, running. Kimeti could be spry and wild. Thank goodness a Totoma did not find her tempting. They were stocky and had more armor than other types.

She opened her mouth after practicing her lines mentally. She sounded tough and confident in her head. What came out was a slight whimper. She tried again, forcing her voice to sound more firm.

"A new challenger approaches. And I will win!" she declared, her tail slightly wavering. She wanted to win even if she lacked the experience.

Spun was startled by the zikwa doe who yelled in his direction swishing her tail. Relieved to see another zikwa has chosen to accept him as their challenger. He really didn't want to fight a strong, burly Totoma in the dark. "We'll see who wins this fight!" He said in response. She was a little smaller than him but she made up for it in her very large antlers. Her brighter colors stood out in the darkness making it easier to see her, but he doesn't know her fighting capabilities. He got into a defensive stance ready to try and avoid her attack and potentially strike.

He narrowly avoided the second attack but tripped coming to a stop so was unable to attack back.

Regaining his footing, he tried to go on the offensive. He ran at the doe's right side and used his long tail to trip her by wrapping it around one of her back legs.

After being tripped Light deals some blows to Spun's side with her legs, then rolls over to get up. Spun recoils in pain from the hits, regains his footing and runs to smack head first into Light.

As he got closer he lowers his head so that his thin curved horns don't accidentally hit her or take the hit. His horns are more likely to break and cut the doe.

He hits successfully and when he is still shaking off the dizziness he gets a decent look at his opponent. Her antlers are so impressive, with nearly glowing pink flower buds that reminds him of spring. Her markings glow like the sun. He's stunned for a moment.

Light takes advantage of his moment of hesitation and hits him with her antlers. Knocking him off balance. He regains his footing, but he doesn't have much strength to keep going. He's only got one chance to land a blow.

He uses the last of his strength to knock her over with another hit. She doesn't go down as planned and uses her legs to kick him on his rump, knocking him down. He can't get up for another move. She collapsed at nearly the same time as he did. He didn't notice until he looked over. It was a tie.

Rolling for Light

Light watched the other zikwa move and practice the move and counter in her mind. She studied the angle in which each strike hit and categorized them each on the intensity of the strength. The zikwa was not playing around. This would be a challenging skirmish. It was her turn to move and she dove to the right hoping that her plant antlers would graze the zikwa and connect.

Light made another move and almost tripped on himself. These horns weren't as light and they caught a lot of wind resistance. If she wasn't careful, she would hurt himself or accidentally gouge the other zikwa in what was supposed to be a friendly battle of strength. she pivoted tactics. Her horns were too unwieldly and it would hurt if he got them locked with a tree or they broke. she wasn't a totoma and should not employ head first battle tactics. she switched to kicking. Light struck out her left back hoof and prayed to the Mother Father it would connect.

Light was getting the hang of fighting. If she kept this up and trained during winter and spring, she could join the gambling games or train some chickens to fight. She was addicted to the adrenaline feeling. It was fun! She was having fun and in a glance, noticed how striking her opponent was. She knew they were a zikwa, but she did not realize how soft and long their hair was. She came close enough to sniff at his hair before landing a soft kick on his rump.

Light laughed. For all her careful planning, she still tied with the zikwa. With no clear definitive winner, they could continue. With her labored breaths, she proposed an alternative.

"Since we tied, why don't we try a different battle? That was a good game of strength but I'm tired and sweaty now. I'm Light by the way. What's your name?"

Spun From Starlight got 20 points, Light also got 20 points. The battle ends in a tie!



Tired and a bit sore, Spun also laughed. Still lying down. "Nice to meet you, Light. I'm Spun From Starlight, or Spun for short." He tried to sit up a bit. "I'm a bit sore and tired myself. So a different kind of challenge, preferably not a battle of strength sounds good. You're pretty strong."

He smiles. "We'll have to break the tie some way, right? Maybe after we rest up?"

"If you are able to move, there's a place nearby that we can lie down and just watch the rest of the fighters. Maybe we can pick who we think will win and have that be our challenge?"

Gambling as a first date?

"I think I would like that a lot." It was a promise and Light could not wait.
