[COMBAT HELPER] Eagles-Landing

Post by anemosagkelos »

Fighting was not unknown to Eagles-Landing; in fact, if anything, it was a part of reality that happened all too often. Ideally, it would not be needed, but that was unlikely to be as it was his duty to defend the eagles that so many wanted to take whether it be for want as a pet or for food or even to simply show they could.

A sigh of disappointment was his reaction to the idea that strength would attract motes. He did not fight for fun and he did not wish to make enemies if he were to down another kin. One hoof had already stepped forward by the time the inclusion of wooden kin idols. He paused, turning to look at the faux foes. He could take one of those down without consequences.

Decision made, the totoma moved to a nearby wooden figure. He took in the construction of it, tried to make believe that it was a real kin threatening the eagles he was devoted to.

Eagles-Landing lowered his head and rushed forward.

A crack sliced through the stillness as the wood splintered against the impact of the totoma's hard crown. There was a reason the mountain totoma were known for being warriors, for defeating enemies, and for causing such grievous injuries that could lead to death. Even as a defender, the buck had not forgotten his heritage for it aided him in daily life.

He did not have the ego to think that he was the best skilled fighter; he was far from it. There were kin, not only totoma, who spent their lives in dedication to being the strongest. So it was unexpected when he felt surprise that the idol had not been destroyed.

The construction was not as solid as a rock or a mountain, but it must have been more secured than he thought or perhaps his strike had not been so strong. It would be a mistake to read too far into it, to wonder and worry. He knew that much.

Drawing a hoof through the dirt on the ground, the totoma buck readied himself once more and charged.

[COMBAT HELPER] Eagles-Landing

The figure stood, twisted and disfigured, as Eagles-Landing turned to look at it. He laughed, amused at the wood's resilience and at his inability to fell it quickly. Perhaps he was out of practice or holding back with no real need to win.

He frowned in thought, should not the sun returning to the sky be as important as guarding the eagles he so loved? Without it they would not survive. Nor would he.

A renewed sense of need flushed through him, snapping his muscles to attention as he threw himself at the wooden idol one final time.

Where once the figure had stood, there was nothing. The buck stared, then darted his eyes to the left and to the right. Had anyone noticed? He could not tell without allowing alarm to be seen. He swallowed the uncertainty down and walked purposefully into the crowd. No one had to know he'd turned the stand-in to wood dust. Especially if he walked quickly.
