[ b ] Climb Every Mountain (Higher and Higher & Half Truth)

Post by rexcorvus »

"Never let them see your weaknesses," her mother had said, once upon a time.

Higher had never let anyone see her weaknesses, but she hadn't exactly done the most to protect herself from becoming smitten with the first pretty buck to come around, either. She supposed this was a fault of her own making, but somehow couldn't bring herself to be particularly bothered about it. Ghost Moth was, by and large, quite lovely and on top of that, she was making her own in the world.

Well. Almost her own. Her own, plus a few more. And now she was wandering about a sunlit copse in the forest, idly searching for one of the ones that could maybe help her a bit.

Strength came easy to Half Truth. Always had, even before her little conversation with the Motherfather that led to her being... well, taller, among other things. Taller, a shapeshifter, blessed with the ability to bless... but at the core, nothing had really changed. She'd just become more of herself.

Which mean that she absolutely kept up her jogging regimen. It took her well away from her home territory. She paced through trees and marshes, her eaglehound shape flickering behind her occasionally. She loved the run- exercise was phenomenal for clearing your head and keeping your grounded and focused in the moment.

In fact, she was so focused on The Moment and not The World Around Her that she almost missed the doe entirely. She was a lovely young thing, and she looked... determined. Was she looking for something? Someone? Or was she waiting for them? No, whatever else she was, this girl wasn't a passive bystander. There was a strength within her. What was it? Half Truth found herself wanting to know. So, she jogged backwards. "Hello!" she said. "Lovely day for a run, isn't it?"

There was a trampling of hoofbeats somewhere near, and as Higher lifted her head, she caught a glimpse of a deep, velvety green and golden petals before it disappeared behind a wide oak tree. A second later, however, it reappeared - or rather, a kin appeared, elegant and sleek, black horns curling back atop her head. She was quite unlike any other doe that Higher had seen before, which could really only mean one thing:(that she hadn't seen that many does before) that she had found who she was looking for.

"Good afternoon," said Higher pleasantly, tail swishing in the greening leaves on the grass at her hooves. It made a rustling sound that pleased her. "It is very nice outside. Do you always go out running? Is that what does like you do?"
