[PRP] Run Along Now [Forgotten Feathers x Albatross]
Original gaia thread: https://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewt ... t=23547449
Albatross:
It glittered, sparkled and shined brightly that for a moment she forgot herself, and became a large hairy raccoon on a chase. Branches tugged at her hair and a log barred her entry but eventually she squeezed through two bushes. There! An endless chase finally brought to an end as she corned it between rocks and the wateredge. Lunging forward she slipped, but intertwining branches kept her head from falling at an unnatural angle. Pulling slightly away until the tree gave, she turned on her prey. Its small reflective head shivering nonstop until one final feint and she had it. By the tail. Nevermind she nearly took down this part of the swamp for a shiny old thing.

Forgotten Feathers:
She hadn't simply caught the mongoose in her chase, she had also stumbled upon a goose looking doe on the ground of the swamp. Curled around her legs was a red and orange eaglehound that seemed to be extremely possessive of the goose, looking up at Albatross with suspicion. User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Forgotten Feathers on the other hand had not quite looked up yet, her sobs covered the initial sounds the other doe had made upon her chase and capture.
"A-albatross...?" She asked meekly, her eyes wet and her face flushed. She had to have been here sobbing to herself for quite awhile.

Albatross:
Hairy raccoon became surprised, then alarmed Albatross. It wasn't even a question, she let go of the mongoose. Who of course, despite nature and self-preservation, ran straight into the upset bird kimeti, Forgotten Feathers. But because Forgotten Feathers was laying on the floor, Albatross could not slide up side by side to dole out her customary greeting. Instead she sat down beside her friend, eyed the eaglehound and mongoose and confirmed that it was indeed the magnificent Albatross. If her hair was in a disarray she gave it no mind. The birds that she housed had flew off for the winter long ago.
"I see my prey has taken a liking to you. You must have magical powers," was how she greeted the white one. She hoped to lighten the situation before delving to the meat of the matter: why the white bird's cheek was sticky with tears.

FF:
Her eyes blinked several times as if to confirm her sights and then suddenly gasped in surprise again at the mongoose. It wasn't quite so threatening as Fire Made Flesh had been so she didn't move so much as simply let out a squeak but it had been enough for the eaglehound to give the evil eye to the mongoose and begin to growl until Forgotten Feathers nudged him softly with her nose.
"It's okay..." she whispered very softly to him before he calmed down a bit.
"Y-you were... going to eat it?" She questioned, her thoughts distracting finally from what had happened earlier. If anything, at least the tears from her eyes slowed a little.

Albatross:
Well, it did sound a bit silly when Forgotten Feathers said it out loud. She wasn't really hungry, and the more she sought within herself why she chased it, the more bizarre it became. It was pure frivolity that caused her to chase it. With single minded intensity, she was very much like a crow or raccoon when presented with something new and shiny. Oh how low she had fallen.
"No, I just wanted to catch it to see its shiny coat." she mumbled the rest, bemused. Eyeing the exchange between the eaglehond (it hadn't been there the last time they met) and the mongoose, she was curious. "This eaglehound, it's new? It doesn't seem like it caused you to be sad." Tears were her weakness. she simply did not know how to deal with them. Might as well let quicksand envelop her on the spot.

FF:
If Forgotten Feathers was a bird then she was a goose not a crow so she had trouble imagining chasing something simply to see how shiny of a coat it had. She didn't think any less of Albatross for doing so but she found it interesting. It was almost as if earlier hadn't happened, or at least it was until Albatross asked about the eaglehound that seemed to be glued to her.
She frowned, her eyes watering up a bit again as she recalled what had happened and how she had met the eaglehound. She wasn't sobbing yet but as she recalled the cave that she had sought to take shelter in again she recalled her feelings of fear all the same.
"I... I..." she shuddered before letting out a meek whisper. "He saved me..."

Albatross:
At the sound of the whisper, the mongoose burrowed deeper into Forgotten Feathers despite the previous warning from the eaglehound. It even whipped its tail closer to the feathery canine. Warm, it was so warm.
That was good news at the very least. She deigned to give the eaglehound a reassuring nuzzle but he was foreign and the wayward prey beat her to it anyway. Since asking her questions just meant FF revisited horrific times, she switches courses. "While we were away, a pair of starlings flew into my hair and made a nest and had eggs. I've bathed since then." She wasn't really sure where she was going with this, but perhaps they could trade stories. "I even hear there's been a canary spotted here. Does your eaglehound like the birds, too?"

FF:
The eaglehound did not like this mongoose getting so close to Forgotten Feathers. Not only that but it also really wanted to eat it. It was probably salivating just a bit when Forgotten Feathers nudged him again with her nose. He whined with a bit of a growl on it before settling back down again. He didn't understand why he couldn't eat the mongoose. It looked quite delicious! Perhaps she was going to tenderize it for him, warm it up so it wasn't so tough to bite into? Oh how the eaglehound could dream.
"S-starlings?" She asked with a ray of happiness in her voice. She loved brids and the thought of starlings nesting in her friend's hair brought a bit of joy to her. "Oh, how wonderful of you... of you to... to... shelter them."
There was a distinct pause in her thoughts when Albatross asked if the eaglehound liked birds. Not so much the question but her implying it was her eaglehound. She was awfully grateful to the hound but she didn't think she owned him like a familiar or something, although the eaglehound was probably in the position to consider her his familiar the way he saved her from trouble and protected her.
"He... he probably... he probably does."

Albatross:
Dim but full of love, however fleeting, the mongoose whipped its head away from the white doe's side to let out its own measly whimper of a screech and poorly imitated crow's caw at the eaglehound. it even tried to hiss. And it most certainly recalled its tail in from the duties of warming the ungrateful hound. Hmph, it burrowed deeper into Forgotten Feathers, Albatross all but forgotten.
Her brain rapidly racing to remember what little facts she had about forgotten feathers, Albatross did not see the exchange between the puny brained animals. Now birds, they were the real magnificent treasures of the swamp. And it made her think of the cold and snowy day she last saw the goose. "Did you try to fly??
She couldn't quite figure out how the eaglehound played a part. Coming closer, but not touching the other doe, she gently nudged the goose's neck with her nose. "You can tell me you know" she reminded her softly.

Re: [PRP] Run Along Now [Forgotten Feathers x Albatross]
FF:
Forgotten Feathers had never been very good with direction but this had been the first time it had really struck such a fear into her. She hadn't meant to trouble anyone and she didn't imagine a small shelter would have ever been so grave before. It was such a distraught memory for her and the wounds in her mind were still so fresh. Albatross was her friend though, and she didn't judge her for her shortcomings like Fire Made Flesh had. Boy, had he ever judged her. He practically threw the stump down on a guilty verdict that wouldn't fair well for her.
"I... I was looking for a place to rest for the evenings," she said with a sigh. "I didn't know... know where I was... I... I found a cave nearby so I approached... I asked inside so... so I would not disturb anyone who might be inside... but... but..." she sniffled with her nose, brushing it into the feathered fur of the eaglehound. "He was there... he... he was terrible. He att... he attacked me. I couldn't move my legs... my legs... my legs were like sticks. Oh, I wish I could have flown away! I... I couldn't though... that's... that's when this one came in. He... he rescued me."
The eaglehound seemed to display a good amount of pride hearing how he saved the day, perking up entirely even in the presence of the mongoose. He was a mighty hound who defended his goose against beasts! He'd won, yes, he'd won. This eaglehound had a small ego currently and in his excitement he dug at the ground a bit before settling back down.

Albatross:
What a surprise the story took her by. And the galliant hound! She supposed he was worthy for a half bird. He had some good bird sense in him, and kept Forgotten Feathers safe. Goose or not, she was a friend. And as such, Albatross wanted to know more about the feathery hero.
"Does he have a name? And where exactly is this cave?"
Dumb, but quick to learn, the mongoose's anger abated and soon enough it was back to tail embracing the hound.

FF:
Forgotten Feathers wasn't entirely sure if her friend was asking her who the name of her attacker was or if the eaglehound had a name because of the question that followed it. She simply frowned a bit, thinking on both of them before her blue eyes fell softly on the ground.
"I... I... do not know if he has a name," seemed to sum up the answer in a satisfactory result for either.
There was definitely no way she knew where the cave was, especially considering she didn't even know where her home was at this point. She really wanted to get back there because she'd tucked away a very important treasure there that she absolutely must get back at all costs. She would prefer to keep Swan's feather on her all the time but there was too great a chance she would lose it in situations such as the one she'd just experienced.
"I... I don't know..." she replied, pondering slightly. "The... the eaglehound might know..."

Calmly she asked her friend again before giving the doe a reassuring ear nuzzle, "What was this buck's name? And what did he look like? It's very fortunate this canine friend came just when you needed him." She didn't move to pet or nuzzle the intelligent animal. They weren't close and he was very much, whether the goose liked to admit it or not, Forgotten Feather's.

FF:
Forgotten Feathers didn't know what the buck's name was. You didn't typically ask someone their name when they were threatening to eat you, or something. She felt like maybe she should have, did she do something wrong? She thought if she had asked then maybe she wouldn't have made it out when she did? She tried not to choke back the memory, trying to recall his appearance if anything.
"U... um... scales... so many..." She said. It probably wasn't very helpful though. Who didn't have scales?

Scales. Now that was something she noticed on others for she didn't have any. Except for her shoulderscales, but those were so tiny and her face and back were smooth like river rocks. But she needed more details. Just a little more.
"Hmm, what color was he? Or was the cave too dark to see? What did he look like?" She was going to do something with all this information alright. Make no mistake about it. She shook her head for emphasis, tiny twigs falling out.
