The jellyfish stings should have hurt him a hell of a lot more than they currently were. Though to be fair, he was sort of out of his head at that point from all if it. Dawn's voice was trying to cut through the haze, and at one point he mumbled an incoherent few words before his head dropped down heavily on his legs as he semi settled against her own warm body. He wavered in and out of awareness and being awake. It couldn't be helped.

Had this been any other day, Dawn would have gone back to her little home away from home to gather some of the herbs and pastes she kept wrapped up in a corner of her little nook. It certainly would have helped him with the stings of the jellyfish but, and she was being quite honest with herself, she was afraid of what would happen to him if she left him to fend for himself even for just a few moments so she could gather the necessary things for his wellbeing.

Instead, she stayed at his side, a soft sigh escaping her before she quieted down her talking and merely started humming softly under her breath. Once he came out of the worst of it, she'd see about getting what she needed to soothe his skin, likely his head and just the same, his stomach. She might not have been the best mother in the world, but she was a surprisingly good caretaker and healer. She'd help as much as she could until he told her to leave.

The humming was soothing. Beyond soothing, and he breathed a soft, relaxed sigh as he shifted his weight to lean against her a little more, his body growing lax as he fell into a sort of proper sleep. At least for a little bit. He woke after an undefinable to him amount of him and his eyes slowly cracked open, a soft groan from him. "Ugh... my head..." that was the first thing he noticed. His head ached. His stomach didn't feel so great either honestly and he thought he might throw up. Except that required moving, and that earned another soft groan. "Did anyone catch the name of the Totoma that won that fight?" he realized after a bit he wasn't alone, and there went his head gently laying across the doe's back.

"I didn't dream you." words soft, awed. "I thought it was that drink...or maybe the mushroom." he wasn't sure either way, he just knew he thought he'd dreamed her. "But just as pretty as a vision from the MotherFather." he was a smooth talker, apparently, despite it all. Or maybe because of.

She found herself smiling slightly as she realized he'd drifted off. A proper rest, even a short one, was bound to do him good and that he was able to actually rest peacefully let her know that he was likely going to be all right. He'd ache, but at least he'd be okay for the most part. His sleep didn't stop her from humming, not for a while yet. When she was quite certain that he was indeed well asleep, she quieted down, settling just so, content for the warmth because the air was chilly. Nevermind that the cave wasn't... the best and it was dark, though not as dark now as it had been earlier. Dawn figured that it likely was because her eyes had adapted to the darkness.

She breathed a gentle chuckle at his questioning for the Totoma's name, but his following words quieted her down, an amused grin quirking her lips a little. "It was the mushrooms, I'm certain. Though since I have no idea what you drank beforehand, it's possible it was a mix of both." she kept her voice low and soft, "you're a smooth talker, it seems like, but I bet you're hurting in a few places. I didn't dare leave you on your own while you were under the mushroom's hold. I could go and get a few things that would help you, however."

Why not? After that, she'd likely recount his little 'trip' down mushroom lane, but from her perspective.

"Such an innocent looking mushroom it was too." he eyed her. "Looked a little like you. Are you an innocent mushroom? Will my head spin if I nibble on you?" and there a light, playful nibble at one of her ears. Maybe he was still under the effects. It was hard to say, really. There was a soft smile at her words, though it gave way to a grimace.

"Actually now that you mention it.. I am hurting. What happened?" he groaned a little, head dropping back to his legs again with a slight wince. "Thank you for staying with me. You don't even know me, and you stayed?" he sounded sort of awed, and humbled. "I owe you, thank you." her offer to get things that would help was met with a "Please? I'll stay put." he didn't think he had it in him to go wandering anyhow.

"At times, it is the innocent and innocuous ones that are to be kept an eye on, you may never know what they may try to do to you." She tipped her head a little, a soft laugh escaping her as she flicked her ears a little, especially at that nibble of his. She wasn't sure if that was still the effects of what he'd ingested or his natural personality, either way, it was fine and adorable, truly.

She did sigh moments later, however, her head shaken carefully. "Not surprisingly... for one thing, you walked into a giant spider's web; after that, I'm not sure what you were seeing but you got spooked by a branch on the ground, you then walked right into a pair of flying jellyfishes and well, that goes without saying that it didn't end well and then you walked into this rather dank cave and here we are." Short and to the point, that version but it was about it, really.

"I felt better with the idea of staying with you to make sure you were all right. You did end up eating that mushroom because I told you that I believed it was likely to be quite fine. I would have felt terrible if something had happened to you because of that." It was that simple. "You owe me nothing. Truly. Now do stay put or I'll have to play the angry-mother role or something."

Very or something. She bopped his nose with hers gently before she was carefully easing to a stand. She stretched a moment, her gaze moving about the cave a moment, it was definitely dank. She gave him one last look before padding outside and squinting slightly into the outside brightness. Gathering her bearings as to her location, she trotted off to her own little cave and gathered a few things into a mock basket made with a turtle shell. Once she was certain she had everything, she was moving back over, having been gone perhaps for a half-hour or so before she was easing back into the cave.

"I'll keep in mind I have to keep an eye on you." he gave her a soft laugh and a wink. He wasn't normally this forthcoming, but it wasn't such a bad thing he reasoned. He was a lot quieter, and keep to himself but between the drink and that mushroom his tongue had certainly been loosened up a bit.

"A branch? It looked like a snake to me." he shook his head with a sigh. "No more strange mushrooms for me." he gave a sigh as she recounted his harrowing experiences. "That explains a lot, the stings. Not sure how I ended up in here, but I guess the alternatives could have been a whole lot worse." he could have fallen off a sheer drop, tripped over rocks. Finding a dark cave? While kind of dank, wasn't too terrible.

He gave a soft laugh at her threat and the bop to his nose. "I'll stay put, no worries. I don't feel up for wandering anyhow." and he truly didn't. He laid his head back down and watched her go, eyes growing heavy after a little bit, and he let himself fall back to sleep. It was just easier that way he was away. It was the noise at the cave entrance that woke him and he lifted his head up a little, blinking blearily, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. He felt a little worse than before she left, achier. But, he'd stayed put!

"That might be a little difficult as I believe you're bound to be stuck here for a little while, while you heal up. So you're just going to have to watch me come and go and deal with eating whatever I bring back for you." Her tone was softly amused as she shook her head and stretched a moment more. She listened to the sounds from the outside but let it be, instead opting on focusing on all she had to bring back.

She was indeed glad that it had been no more than a dank cave, the idea that it could have been much worse wasn't lost on her and her mind kept on going back to that particular thought as she had gathered everything she needed for him. She looked at the still warm herbal water she'd prepared earlier on but it would have been too complicated to bring it over, so paste and fresh herbs would have to do.

Dawn tried to keep quiet as she stepped back inside. She set the shell down carefully and looked him over a moment, her head shaken gently, "We'll make sure you're getting better. I've got some paste for a few of the worse stings and some fresh herbs that should ease your pain. I even managed to find a few berries to wash everything down. I promise that while the herbs might not taste very good, they won't send you into another mushroom-like induced vision." That had to be something, at least.

He gave a smile at her words, an understanding note. "It's fine, its my own fault anyhow, and it's kind of you to take care of me." oh it was indeed, and it wasn't lost on him. "You should be out there enjoying the festival, not taking care of an idiot like me." at least he could admit he'd been an idiot, and really, he had been.

"I'll try not to be too much of a pain on things. The whole paste and what not. Fortunately, I'm not a picky eater...as the whole mushroom incident probably proves to you." so that was a small mercy, really. Her being quiet coming in made him smile. "No need to be so quiet, it's fine." really. "Well if you say it's needed for me to get better, then bad taste or not, I'll eat it. I trust you." and he knew he barely knew her, but he trusted her to take care of him, and help him recover.

"Not another mushroom like state is welcomed though. I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. Never, ever again." ever.

It wasn't wholly his fault, that was the problem. It was also one of the reasons why she had stayed with him. She felt guilty for not telling him that she wasn't sure if that mushroom was going to be good for him or not. There just had been small little signs but she'd chosen to ignore them. So in the end, it was as much his fault as it was hers.

She tipped her head, even as she settled back down in front of him with the paste, berries and herbs within easy reach of her. "It's not so much that I was trying to be quiet, to be honest, I think I'm just naturally quiet on my hooves, it's one of those things. I've lost track of how often I've spooked someone else by coming up behind them when they weren't expected it. It was a little more difficult in the snow, that much she could admit easily. Again, it wasn't as though she was trying to be quiet, she just was.

Dawn chuckled softly, drawing the little sprig of herbs closer for him to take. Once he had them, she'd move the berries a little closer and then the paste. "You can swallow that once you feel it's turned to mush enough to not be a problem." The taste would actually likely be a little minty and perhaps earthy as well, it seemed to depend on the chewer.

She watched him with said herbs a moment before she was gathering a bit of the paste on her nose and dabbing it carefully in places where she could spot the stings had left some marks. That would help too.

He gave a chuckle at her explanation. "I understand, I tend to be fairly quiet myself. It's just how I've always been." not a bad thing he was aware, just how he was in the end. More in terms of speaking in general, than carrying himself, though even that could be on the quieter side now and again.

He started to chew on the herbs and there was indeed a minty taste, and just barely an earthy undertone. He chewed until they seemed nice and soft before he did swallow them down with a thank you, letting his head lower back down to his legs. The dabbing of the paste with her nose was, well adorable actually and he couldn't help but smile. "You look cute right now." words murmured softly, in quiet amusement. The mushroom and stings had definitely loosened his tongue a little.

"I might've had a bad trip, and ended up super stung, but being able to spend time with you, and get to know you is worth it I think." daw.

"You have that sense of strong and silent going for you." She murmured the words with a soft laugh, being mindful of where she was dabbing the paste. Some of it would be taken in through the fur and into the skin, the rest would dry up and flake away once it had done its job, so she wasn't too worried about putting on as much as was necessary in the spots she could find.

She blinked at him, a smile offered to him as she finished the dabbing and wiped the rest off with a nose-to-leg motion. That would do. Her nose would be a little numb for a while but it was a small price to pay.

"Now, you're just being adorable and you still somewhat under the effect of the mushroom and whatever else has mushed up your brain. Shush, rest." she paused, nestling a little closer--for warmth she told herself, before actually closing her eyes. She'd stay with him until he was better, it made the most sense at that point and that was perfectly fine.

And once he'd have had his rest, she's ask about his name, because, well, names were important if you were interested in learning more about someone. For now, however, it was perfectly fine that they merely rest and he recuperate. It had been a strange day but he'd had a point, it had all been worth it to spend some time with him.
