Finite's memory of how he had gotten that trinket was lost to him but it hardly seemed to matter. The memories he had, of said trinket, remained with him now that he was out there in the world, seeking to see more stars than he could have ever truly seen in the world of darkness that was the cave he grew up in.When your kin was young, they had one particular trinket that caused them great joy -- either one day, or over a period of long time. What was this object? Why was it special? How did they come across it?
He hardly remembers what the item itself was, only that it was large and soft and, at first, Finite remembers that he had been afraid that it would tear if he were to play with it but, as he had picked it up, chomping down harder than he had expected as it had nearly escaped him on the first try, he had realized that it was quite strong, for whatever it was.
His thoughts were, perhaps, that it had been a large leaf but he couldn't recall talk of leaves as big as the one he had found, a leaf that he proudly carried on his back for the longest of times. Certainly, he was sure it was crooked the vast majority of the time because putting things on your own back certainly is not easy but that was all right. For as much a loner as he was, he didn't have anyone bothering him about it.
Finite heard a few others who seemed to mention he had become invisible to them and it actually made him happier to be less visible. It was a good thing, really!
One day, however, as he was bathing, his precious item set to the side so he could put it back on once he was done with his slight swim in the shallow waters, his item vanished, as though it had never existed. He tried as he could to locate it but he never found it again, much to his chagrin.
Now that he's on the outside, however, with Echo on his back quite often, the feeling of safety he had felt from beneath his trinket was with him once more and he was fine.
