[PRP] Who's There? (Seeing Red & Endless Pressing Dark)

Seeing Red's once jittery excitement at the outset of her self-constructed adventure into a new region of the swamp was beginning to wane; her giddy gallop was now a more hesitant creep forwards. She had forgotten that with the coming winter came an earlier sunset, and so found herself lost among the seemingly endless foliage and trees.
She stopped for a moment to scan her surroundings, the dim light from her eyes giving the plant life in her view a red tint. Pleased at the apparent lack of predators, she carried on again - slowly, carefully. She just had to survive the night - come morning she'd surely run into another kin, or recognize her path and be able to chart her own way back. Best case scenario, she'd run into a benevolent ghost that would guide her back home and she'd be able to tell Merry Berry the best story.
She sighed wistfully at the thought.
The long furby wrapped comfortably around her shoulders suddenly arched itself upright with a loud chirrup, startling Seeing Red from her thoughts and causing her to step in exactly the wrong spot. A tangle of roots that had been covered by leaves now firmly held her front leg.
She cursed under her breath as attempts to free her leg seemed to only cause the knot of roots to tighten. Had this been some sort of trap?
Her furby, ever helpful, began to make something between a scream and a chirp. They apparently saw Seeing Red's desperate attempts to silence it as the highest of flattery, as it only grew louder and more dramatic.
A great situation to be in, clearly.
