Fires race across the swamps and fields, turning dull, papery green-browns bright, so painfully, wonderfully bright. A kiss erupts into fiery echoes, crackling into ashen gray...


...then black...

...black...

...black.

They come slowly at first,

then all at once,

erupting into a cacophany of light and bright and colour, mimicking the fire that gives them life. They follow it, a beloved finale to a deadly dance that heralds peace to come.

A short-tempered totoma, and quick to lash out, who fought a boulder... and came out on top. It was in her way on her daily route– and one day, she decided she'd had enough. Vowing to find its fault and smash it to pieces, she reared back and charged. She smashed at the rock with fierce headbutts until the stone itself gave way, hidden faults beneath her hooves cracking at the force of her tenacity. The boulder tumbled along with the doe, and she stumbled out of the rubble later, relatively uninjured.
