A DRABBLE ON THE THEME OF PET LOVE!
Kin Name: Pet
Drabble:
Love is a word that brings to mind thoughts of warmth and goodness. It's a wholesome thing - except when it isn't.
"You love me, don't you, brother?" He asks.
The purple buck looks up at his older sibling - his stronger, more clever, more handsome, more cruel sibling - and nods. It earns him an unimpressed look, and he ducks his head, quick to correct his mistake. "Of course I do, Brother."
"Hm. Took you a minute to think about it though, didn't it?" His voice is sweet, but his eyes promise punishment. The younger buck wilts a little under that stare.
"I just -- I was just surprised you had to ask, that's all. You know I love you, right?" The worst part, perhaps, is that it's true, and he really does live up to his name, doesn't he? Pet. Little more than a toy to be played with and broken. Yet, he couldn't imagine a life without his brother in it. He's the stronger one, after all. The smart one. Pet would be so, so lost without him. He yearns for his approval. A Brother's Love. They were meant to be together from the moment they began to form and dream in their eggsacs.
"Just checking," but Brother's voice is warmer now, indulgent, and he nuzzles his younger sibling gently. "Let's find someone fun to play with, tonight."
Pet breathes out in relief. The words mean reprieve for him. Brother will be distracted, and perhaps Pet will be able to enjoy the festival a little after all.
