Flickering Hollow

A light in the dark, at first thought a warm welcome
Turned out nought but a fractured orange gourd with a lone
Glowing insect resting inside, light flickering
Imploring the night to deliver a soul-mate
"I am the flickering hollow that lights your way,"
The insect seemed to say to the weary trav'ler;
"So you must be," said the traveler back, "You see
I mistook your glow for a bright and warm campfire."
The bug nodded and asked: "You are rested now, yes?"

An egg in the swamp, surrounded by late gourds, wobbles for the first time. Disturbed by its dream, the creature inside wouldn't be contained for much longer.
