On the longest night of the year, When the Sun Stood Still made a tradition of building a bonfire for kin to sit around, to share stories and find comfort in the company and the warmth. And even though the cold never came, she kept to her practices, building a big bundle of sticks on the beach to listen to the peaceful sound of the waves churning while the world slept.

It was a sparser, smaller gathering this year–no familiars to rehome, no wandering kin looking for a place to stay. But When the Sun Stood Still nevertheless had refreshments, warm welcomes for the season, and a new game.

“I heard once that every kin has a song inside of them,” explained Sun, settling a series of sticks into place. “But we don’t always know how to listen for it in the noise of the swamp. Here–what you do is you wrap a feather in dry leaves and toss them into the fire. Then, when the sparks scatter along the beach, I can then read the position of the ashes and tell you what song is yours to sing.”

“Okay but,” you start, “Don’t you think this is a bit procedurally generated and soulless? Also, I’m a goat, how do I wrap something without thumbs–”

”No more questions.” When the Sun Stood still stared you down until you were silent. “Burn the feather. Find the song.”

Your kin has stumbled upon a bonfire game on the longest night of the year! Maybe if they play along, they’ll learn more about themselves…
–Or at the very least, they’ll come away with a lovely chibi for their troubles!

To enter, all you have to do is post this form, roll 4d20, and consult the tables below to learn your kin’s secret musical style! You’re also welcome to roleplay, but because it’s the sleepiest time of the year there are no bonuses for RP. Each player may enter once, with the kin they would like to be drawn–but for a bonus ticket, you can link a song you feel matches the genre you rolled! You can also claim a third ticket if you’ve been extra generous this year and given away every gram you’ve won (or had no luck winning grams)-–tis the season!
