Indulgence wasn't known to put in hard work, far from it really. The entire exact opposite of hard work. He preferred to do no work, to let the spoils come to him. So why then was he carefully setting up an area for a potential new pet? He didn't know really. They appealed to him in a way he couldn't quite explain and even though there was no guarantee one would want to come home with him, he still was putting in the most effort he'd done in....well a very long time. His failed attempt at a tribe of his own loomed to the surface as he thought about the last time he'd tried to do something.
That was immediately pushed down and ignored as he saw to piling some of his own plush furs up in a corner for the potential new friend. He knew the risk versus reward was high on risk, and low on reward and yet for once...he didn't care. He wanted to entice one of these cute little Muskies to come home with him where he would pamper and adore it to no end really. Once he had a pile of no less than six of his favorite furs piled up, he then went about getting a spot set up for food to be sat down to feed one, and even an empty turtle shell to fill with water.
When he got that done he stepped back a little and looked around. One little area was a start, but he wanted his over all space to be new friend-friendly. So he started to organize and clean his space in a way he hadn't done since his tribe joined Taste the Swamp's own, and he'd carved out this little niche for himself. Old bits of food and other what not was cleaned up and out, and he hauled it all away. He found scented branches and flowers and set them around and up out of the way, making his space smell better.
Finally after hours of work he was satisfied, and could only hope that it'd been worth all the extra effort in the long run. But in any case he was sure to sleep like the dead after putting in so much hard work. Did they like to cuddle he wondered? That would be wonderful he mused as he fell to sleep on his considerably less comfortable fur pile. Mm. He'd have to remedy that soon enough but first...sleep.
Except as he laid there he couldn't stop his mind from jumping between what if's, and maybes. Maybe he'd get a new friend. What if he didn't? Maybe he could get help acquiring more pelts for his bedding...but maybe he'd have to do it himself. What if he had to go hunting on his own? That was something more like a nightmare to the usual sedentary buck. Still, he'd cross that river when he came to it...and if it turned out one of the cute little things didn't come home with him, it wasn't a worry anyhow. He could just take the furs all back and set them back up where they'd been right? Right.
