Seducing and then breaking the hearts of bucks was a fun pastime and all well and good, until you finally had to deal with one of the occasional side effects - pregnancy.

Pale Dreamer wasn’t keen on her swollen belly and all that came with it. The sore knees, the endless hunger, the back aches. Not to mention the part at the end. Actually giving birth. She wasn’t scared but she also wasn’t thrilled about having her first clutch.

So she was heading to The Mothers Club. They had a legendary who could not only bless her pointless offspring but also remove the pain of having them. Then she could leave them with a bunch of foal-loving do-gooders and go back to her carefree life. Perfect.

[imgright]https://matope.pixel-blueberry.com/imag ... ncert5.png[/imgright]She could sense it, right on the way to The Mothers Club - it didn't seem quite polite for a Legendary to bum quite so close to another Legendary's turf, but Bitter End was not polite, and she was not at all meaning to do anything today, just feast off this crop of berries that had sprung up a little way away from the area. Comically, her head snapped around to glimpse golden hair fluffing along the doe's walk. Well, The Mothers Club seemed busy today, having a fresh batch of abandoned (and found) babies being quickly and efficiently nurtured. Perhaps she would help lighten the load today.

Soon enough, a great caveworm came scuttling out of the brush towards her, gorged on berries, the remaining juice dripping down its mandibles.

It slithered up to her with its many limbs, and looked expectantly at her, holding its chitinous little hands together.

Pale Dreamer stopped up short, recoiling in disgust.

It was an unusually big bug with too many grasping legs, dripping something wet and red.

She lifted a hoof, waving it in a shooing motion.

"Go away."


@Maxx now there is only anarchy. also i tried to @ myself to start with. i am very clever.

It reared up a little more, seeming offended, and completely failed to follow instructions - instead reaching out to prod her belly with its sticky fingers, earnest in its approach.

She shuffled sideways, evasively maneuvering to protect her belly from those gross poke-y fingers.

"You're a rude creature," she hissed.

The caveworm put its little hands on its ostensible waist (of many) and shook its chitinous head at her with disapproval for her disrespect. It then went straight to reaching for her tail.

Pale Dreamer was admireing her own self restraint. Not once did she try to kick this overgrown insect (though that was entirely because she didn't want to get bitten) and instead of resorting to brutish tactics, she simply started walking away.

End was surprised - even though she was clearly a bit uptight, she was still rather reasonable in her approach and certainly impressively unfussed. Okay, she would give due reward. In an instant, the worm slid into a mare, and trotted alongside her with a flourish of her long hair.

"Congratulations, you're blessed!" She said pleasurably, bearing her teeth in an uncommon grin (for her).

(@Ruriska I'm sorry it suddenly changed direction but I suddenly realised it would be so hilarious if Bitter End thought she was being so very kind and deprives her of her pain-free labour in the most obnoxiously self-gratifying way lmao I'm sorry Dreamer)

"I'm what - ?!" Shrill and indignant, the doe came to a sudden halt.

Pale Dreamer was outraged.

This wasn't the right legendary, she was certain of.

If it hadn't been for the shock of having a worm turn into a kin right next to her (and also the impressive amount of teeth), the doe might have said something quite scathing.

"Ahhh," Bitter End said, wisely, seeing as this girl was completely unaware, "you see, you are pregnant," she emphasised, "and so I have blessed you. You'll probably have more kids poppin' out of you, some pregnancy things maybe - all up to the Motherfather. No need to thank me."

She expected thanks, but it sounded better that way.

"How," Dreamer hissed between clenched teeth, "considerate."

Because despite her blood absolutely boiling, she was not a fool.

You didn't upset a Swamp-touched many-teethed mare-worm.

"I am so very grateful."

(@Maxx spoiler: she's not actually grateful at all! also that should just about do it lmao)

"You are very welcome," she said with some satisfaction, leaning back with a nod.

"I just happened by today - if you should so ever be pregnant again, just down the way is the Mother's Club - Peep there will take care of you instead."

With that, Bitter End had done her Swamp-given duty, and scuttled away, many-limbed, as a greater caveworm.

Pale Dreamer waited until the caveworm was well out of earshot before finally letting out the shriek that had been building.
