Lack of Air sat alone under the bright autumn canopy. She smiled softly, watching her salamander skitter around and between her with excitement. The soft glow moving back and forth before settling in a spot and nestling next to her was a comforting sight for the doe. Sunbathing on the ground with the warmth of her salamander, reminiscing on her time with Coconut. She hoped that she would come back soon! She didn't mind waiting though. The soft autumn breeze was crisp against her fur and the leaves rustled all around her.

She didn't hear the sound of footsteps as the stag, Flower on a Tree, approached. He didn't notice her at first as she was laying in the foliage of the autumn leaves, half buried under them. She didn't hear him coming because of the wind rustling all the leaves around her.

"These trees will grow beautiful flowers in the spring," the stag said to himself, his head looking upward to the canopy of the tree.

The sound of his voice hadn't registered to Lack of Air but as he walked closer, she finally heard his steps approach as her salamander squirmed around her in an alert position.

"Coconut?" She called out. "Is that you?" She tilted her head, leaning forward in an attempt to make out the other doe's shape and scent.

No, this wasn't Coconut. This was someone else. The light from behind him provided a silhouette, and his was staggering. He was large with a long set of antlers.

"Coconut?" He repeated. "I don't think there are any in this area... a bit too cold now."

And then he saw her, and he jumped back a tad. A bit more than he probably should have. Definitely more than necessary.

"Oh no!" He said. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you, I didn't see anyone here and just wandered in... oh gosh."

A little humblebee suddenly appeared beside him, transparent and hovering around him. He sighed, and took a deep breath. It was just a small doe laying on the ground. She looked frightened, concerned by his presence. "I was just... I was just admiring this tree. Oh, it will flower in the spring and produce beautiful blossoms..." he said, rambling nervously.

"Flowers smell nice," she said, carefully bringing herself up off the ground so that she didn't feel quite so cornered there under the tree. She tried to look at him in detail, struggling to get a clear picture in this light. She could only really make out his stature and silhouette but it was enough to tell her the basics. Her voice and presence wasn't threatening, and he seemed to be lowering himself a bit as he stepped back.

"Oh? Oh yes! Flowers do smell nice, positively amazing I must admit. I do regret that the season for most flowers have past, although there are some that thrive in the cooler temperatures. Those are pretty amazing!"

"Is that so?" She replied. She hadn't ever thought about it.

"Mhmm," he said.

The two of them stood there. Awkwardly. Silence began to pool around them like a burning hot sensation, increasing the awkwardness. Both of them fidgeted awkwardly, both of them looking around in the silence for something to fill the void as neither of them knew what to say here. Neither could excuse themselves from the tension, and the solution seemed just out of reach.

It just lead to Flower on a Tree trying to apologize again, looking for a way to make up for his faux pas. He was lost in his thoughts and gave her a fright. He just couldn't leave her like that.

"I am so sorry for troubling you. Please allow me to leave you with a blessing to make up for my carelessness."

Soft pink eyes sparkled and he lowered his head to her. After a moment, he excused himself and left to find a different tree to admire. He'd have to remember to check for sleeping does next time.

Lack of Air stood there. She waited for him to leave, waiting for the rustling of his steps to fade, before she settled back down. The sun still shined, and she felt the warmth all around there. He had been a strange buck but the word blessing was something she felt like she had heard before. Stories, perhaps? Her memory of Stargarden was on the tip of her tongue as thoughts of Coconut flooded her mind and back into her thoughts. She wouldn't have guessed that his blessing would come in handy very shortly.
